Golden Nuggets: Fandom Comes First
Morning everyone, it's gameday once again in 49erland. I'm scheduling the Nuggets out a bit early tonight (lately I've been on and doing them actively around 2:45 a.m., just fifteen minutes before they are posted) so I can wake up in time to go to the game and get some delicious tailgating fare down before I go into the stadium. I'm confident in this game, but I'm going to avoid making specific predictions at this point, because I'm obviously letting fan bias get to my head.
Either way, today should be a good day. I've noted in the past that I don't dislike the Raiders as much as I used to. Before, I was just a 49ers fan who hated the team across the bay, and besides, the rest of the NFL basically insisted that I hate the Raiders as well. Now I'm alright when it comes to them, as I occasionally write about them for SB Nation Bay Area. But today it doesn't matter, my 49ers fandom, for the time being, comes first. Go Niners, kick their [site decorums]. Here's your links, folks.
Alex Smith needs to get angry for his own good. He needs to show some fire, and go Waterboy on a few jive turkeys, apparently. What would Smith visualize, if he were to visualize the attack? (SacBee.com)
Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey isn't concerned about comparisons to Michael Crabtree. Much in the same way that Alex Smith shouldn't be concerned about comparisons to Tom Brady. Different league, son. (Yahoo.com)
The 49ers players have chosen Alex Smith as their guy to stand behind. Not Singletary, not his decisions, but Alex Smith. I think that really says a lot, to be honest. (ESPN.com)
Love the patronizing talk from who I'm assuming is a Cardinals fan in Sando's latest mailbag post. It's cute. (ESPN.com)
The Chronicle takes a quick look at the game with their morning preview. (SFGate.com)
Here's another quick look with need-to-know details. (PressDemocrat.com)
Are you going to the London game? There's a meetup of sorts, Maiocco has the deets. (CSNBayArea.com)
It's a role-reversal for the 49ers and the Raiders, and I hate to see that. We are in greater disarray than the Oakland Raiders, folks. Man. (Yahoo.com)

Alex Smith
Alex Smith’s visualization will be Mike Nolan calling him a sissy!
I could read singletary’s lips on the sidelines he said his 24 to10 if I’m the quarterback I’m not going to let anyone take me out the game I don’t care who the asshole is. people keep knocking Sing for what he said after the game but you can see it is exactly what he did . excuse my punctuation I am using voice messaging
Damn you Montana and Young, your success has spoiled a great percentage of our fan base into speculative rants and raves and pure denial of reality.

Interesting ESPN article by Kriedler
Nothing in that article we didn’t already know, but his perspective does make you think. Also, it sort of supports what I’ve said all along: Coaching has been the biggest problem in SF for 7 years.
I like Singletary, but I agree that it is very telling when the leaders on the offense vetoed Singletary’s move to pull Smith. With that said, Sing was trying to get a rise out of his embattled QB, and he got the results he was looking for. He fought back, went back into the game, and performed at a very high level.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m hoping this incident with Sing/Smith is the sequel to Vernon getting tossed off the field. That had fantastic results, as Vernon went from diva & underachiever to Pro Bowler & team leader. Here’s to Smith following in Vernon’s footsteps.
Touchdown Forty Niners!
wish I was there
Im going to the tampa bay and cardinals game instead. Then I can finally meet my offseason hero: NInjames
