Let's take a step back from football for a bit
We're all excited about the Niners victory, as we shall be. Some of us more than others, some still thinking about the giants loss. But what caught my eye this weekend as i sat through watching football this weekend, was the injuries, specifically the concussions, 2 of which really made just think how violent football is and that it is just a game.
Eric LeGrand: Sure, not many of us know this kid out of Rutgers, but now, mostly, a lot of people do. On a kickoff, he's running hard trying to make a tackle, which he does, but its a huge collision between him and the returner from Army, and LeGrand is just totally knocked out, i mean this kid just doesn't move. If you want to see the video, here it is

Good effort from this kid, but it leaves him paralyzed from the neck down, which could possibly ruin his football career. Whenever we see a huge hit most of us go, "OOOOOOOOOOOOOH SH********", or "HE GOT KNOCKED THE ..... OUT". We all love seeing hits, as long as the guy being hit, or even the guy delivering the hit are ok(maybe not brett favre...jk...maybe...) I may not know a lot about Eric LeGrand, but i sure hope this kid recovers quickly and can continue in some sort of way in football.
DeSean Jackson: Boy did he and Dunta Robinson get in a massive collision, both guys going full speed and just big pop between the two. Jackson left the field at least walking, but reports coming out that he has memory loss, which is not good at all. When i saw the play live(it was on fox in the bay area), it made me go OOOOOOH, but once you realize the effect, that was terrible because it was helmet to helmet. I don't think Dunta Robinson meant for that to happen, or did it on purpose, because sometimes it just happens. But hopefully both these men recover well fast and can take the field safely when the time is right.
Just wanted to offer my two cents on that football is just a game, we make it out to be something so much more, when it seems like it, but it truly is sad when you see guys not moving in a game.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

Sorry, but I hate when people say “let’s take a minute and step back from football”. First of all, I watch and follow football as an escape from the reality of life. Second of all, your post was entirely centered around football.
I hope the kid from Rutgers recovers, it always sucks when career threatening (and life altering) injuries happen. As for DeSean Jackson, Dunta Robinson looked to hit him with his shoulder more so than his helmet. Either way, the fact that the hit targeted (whether intentional or not) Jackson’s head is the problem. I thought James Harrison’s hit against the Browns was far cheaper of a shot.
