Players/Teams 9ers fans should be pulling for...

This is based off my opinion that the 9ers will want to draft a *potential* franchise QB in this year's QB heavy draft. Can't say I'm a huge fan of rookie QBs, but over the last couple years there has been some impressive young prospects...so in order to help our draft status we need other bad teams with QB issues to do well in case they draft before us! This really isn't in any specifc order...nor do I feel good about wanting the raiders or any other NFCW team to do well...

1) Ryan Fitzpatrick/Buffalo - Buff has a lot of holes to fill...could draft a number of positions of need

2) Jason Campbell or Bruce Gradkowski/Oakland - New England might have this pick, not certain

3) Brett Favre (don't think Favre will be back) or Tavaris Jackson - Minny needs a QB...is Joe Webb the answer??

4) David Garrard/Jacksonville - another team with a lot of needs...2ndary is terrible

5) Colt McCoy/Cleveland - really needs a stud WR

6) Matt Moore or Jimmy Clausen/Carolina - DeAngelo and Steve Smith could be gone...team has bigger needs than QB I hope

7) Max Hall/Arizona - QB is there #1 need in my opinion and they could draft before us

8) Matt Hasselbeck or Charlie Whitehurst - don't think they will be drafting before us but they need a QB of the future

Those seem to be the teams that would consider a 1st round QB...I think the 9ers could end up with the 7-10th pick. There is also the possibility of trading up in the draft for any team...hopefully the new CBA will have slotted draft salaries (like the NBA) which could help prevent teams from trading up.

Last day of work...leaving for London tmrw...go 9ers! NFL is really showing off some studs with this 9ers/Broncos game!

Only team really worried about is buffalo

I think seatle has charlie, they traded high pick to get him
browns have mcoy who seems to be doing ok.
garrad may be need to be replaced but i dont think they will draft before us.
vikings i dont think will draft before us.

Way this are going I really think we have a chance to draft luck or who ever they think is the number 1 qb.

Well I’m not going to talk about drafting a QB since we still don’t know what we have. It’s unfortunate Alex was hurt therefore we can’t get a look at him over a full 16 games.

But anyway I want Patrick Peterson. Restructure Nate’s contract and have Peterson be the nickel corner. And/or draft Chris L. Rucker from MSU…

we know exactly what we have in Alex Smith.

an inconsistent, mistake-prone QB who shouldn’t be counted on as a long-term starter.

and what’s this about drafting Patrick Peterson to be a nickel CB? are you serious? he would instantly be the best CB on the team, i dont see why he would be our nickelback.

The cards are the team that worries me a lil bit, they need a QB and they are going to end with a TOP 10 pick at least, and if they end up with a Top 5 pick they could trade up cause Fitzpatrick is doing an amazing Job. Lets go Max hall or Derek Anderson!!

i kind of agree with HUNGRY HUNTER.

i think Buffalo is far and away our biggest worry right now. They have already admitted that they want a QB in next year’s draft, and it has been leaked from their FO that they really like Andrew Luck.

Cleveland probably won’t give up on Colt McCoy after one year, same with Carolina and Clausen. I think Seattle wants to give Charlie Whitehurst a chance, and they won’t draft before us anyway. Arizona, i think even if the Max Hall expiriment doesn’t work out, they might give John Skelton a shot before drafting someone else.

Jacksonville beat Indianapolis, so I’ll bet they can pull off enough wins to draft below us. The Vikings could be looking for a QB, but i think we’ll draft ahead of them.

actually, i think the second biggest threat right now (after buffalo) might be the Raiders pick. I know New England has their pick this year, but that could be a problem. The Patriots like to trade down whenever they get a high pick, so if the Raiders earn a higher pick than us, anyone could trade up to that spot for Andrew Luck.

Patriots have the Raiders pick.

I think it’s hard to say whether you should root for the Raiders or not because of that. I don’t think the Patriots will be drafting a QB, but then again, if they think there is a great one they could draft him, let him sit behind Brady for 2 or 3 years, then trade Brady for a 1st round draft pick. That would seem like a pretty Belicheck like move to me.

Or more likely, they trade the high pick to a team looking to trade up for a QB, since the Patriots are always looking to move back.
