Troy Smith, a Poor Man's Michael Vick???

Now before you scoff at my premise, let me explain. Since Vick reentered the NFL last season we were one of the few teams that had a serious buzz in the media about potentially signing him. Personally I thought he'd be great for us, and looking back now I REALLY wish we could have landed him. But after watching the training wheels come off of the offense in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game I realized something...Troy Smith feels like a poor man's version of Vick. (And no I'm not just a prisoner of the moment)

Immediately after the game a friend and fellow die hard 49ers fan called and we both came to this same conclusion. Now in no way am I ready to anoint Troy Smith as the second coming of Steve Young, but what I saw in that game can not be denied. He has a surprisingly strong arm and is very mobile. But what impressed me the most were his roll outs. How many times have we seen Alex Smith roll out only to throw the ball into the stands? Troy, on the other hand, rolled out with a purpose. He constantly kept plays alive with his feet and he was always looking down field to make a play. He showed a lot of composure in the pocket, and he wasn't afraid to take risks. (Although I did not approve of that 38 yard bomb he threw Walker...Until he caught it of course! :) Either way I think Troy Smith has a ton of potential, and call it wishful thinking, but I think he has a chance to be really, really, good...What do you think?
