Ask Revenge of the Birds

Hey guys, Joe from Revenge Of The Birds here for the obligatory discussing the matchup thread before next weeks Monday Night game.

Now, of course both of our seasons are going nothing like what we were expecting. The 49ers were expected to return to greatness this season, and that Alex Smith would finally thrive with the weapons around him and finally having some continuity at Offensive Coordinator. But that hasn't really happened. And here, people were expecting Matt Leinart to get his shot, and honestly I don't think that he can be any worse than Derek Anderson at this point (we have a game going on where we are all coming up with derisive nicknames for him), a lot of players have been banged up this year, and I miss Kurt Warner more and more every day. Right now, I'm just hoping that we can draft Andrew Luck.

So, if there is anything you guys want to know, ask away and feel free to drop by RotB.

Also, I'm sure a lot of people on RotB want to gloat about you guys being 3-7 after the lofty expectations, but the Cardinals are also 3-7 and they have lost 5 games in a row just like the 49ers did to start the year, so I hope that none of us do that. Save the trash talk for when either of our teams are actually playing well. Its pointless with the seasons that we are having right now.

I personally think we should start Max next Monday

We already know what we have with Anderson so it’s time to experiment with the rookies.

Why not?

At least let the kid get some more experience.

Nay

Max Hall can’t get it done. The offense doesn’t even have a chance with him. Anderson sucks but defenses respect his arm to a degree. Too bad he can’t hardly connect on over half of his passes. We don’t have a QB worthy of starting the game.

LOL LOL LOL

welcome to the 9er fans world!!

When is our QB going to answer questions like "You only threw 4 TD's today. What's wrong with the offense?" I miss the 90's.....
When Troy Smith learns the offense!!!

Dan Williams isn't starting

But they rotate him around with the other two Nose Tackles and he has played well. He looks like he does a good job handling double teams, and he will be a good Nose Tackle in the future.

Why didn't you guys draft a QB last year or the year before that?

Did you guys believe that Warner would come back?

Kellen Moore is awesome

I'd assume it was because they thought Leinart would be the guy

Then they decided that he wasn’t enough of a leader during Preseason and Training Camp and dumped him for a guy with more swagger and intangibles.

We did draft a QB last year

John Skelton, 5th round. A project QB that won’t be ready to do any more than hold a clipboard for 2 years. I knew Warner was going to retire at the end of last season midway through. He was getting torn up. The hit he took in the Saints game during the playoffs was the cap on it. Leinart was supposedly the guy, but wasn’t getting it done on who knows how many levels. I don’t believe Whisenhunt planned on parting with him until after they had their private meeting following the third preseason game. Whis had put in Anderson as the starter to see if he could kick start the offense into doing something. Leinart took issue with the idea. Next thing you know Leinart is getting cut.

yes, with the winner being one out of first. crazy.

it is going to be who wants higher draft pick vs. who thinks they really have a shot at the playoffs. lol

Only an angry vocal minority is calling for that to happen

I’ll forgive Whiz for the mistakes he’s made this past year if he gets an OC, a real QB, and drafts well for next season,

Some people are

Look for Az Retiree in the comments section on RotB. Most of us still have faith in Whiz, but we think that he needs to hire an Offensive Coordinator, and a lot of us want Billy Davis (you guys should remember him) fired right now.

Not me.

I was a New England Patriots fan way back in the days when they sucked. I moved from that part of the country to Arizona in the mid eighties. When the Cardinals moved to the desert I adopted them as my new team. I just can’t stand following a winning franchise. Couldn’t be happier that my team sucks again. JK, lol.

Say what you will but he was the ultimate team player. Trust. I live in AZ and my best friend is a die-hard Cards fan. He’d tell you the same thing and then slap you across the face for saying anything different.

but loyal? No, he wanted the eff out of AZ. Was he loyal to his teammates? Damn right he was, he just hated the organization.

He also seemed to like the fans here a lot too.

Almost every time he scored a Touchdown, he would find one of the fans and hand them the ball.

It seemed like he was loyal to everyone here but the owners and some of the coaches.

Where did you expect your team to be at this point in the season, record-wise?

I would’ve been shocked if you would’ve told me 3-7. I would’ve thought (optimistically, of course) 7-3. You guys?

My expectations before the season began...

6-4

I also expected you guys to be 6-4 or 7-3.

If this season has taught me anything, it was that Derek Anderson’s Pro Bowl season was a fluke.

Fluke indeed.

How lousy were the rest of the AFC QBs that season?

by hadrarius on Nov 23, 2010 6:17 PM PST up reply actions

I had 6-4 I think at this point too.

Most of the tough games came early. Sadly we could easily have that record if not for the suckage in the QB dept. Even with as poorly as our defense has sometimes played.

by hadrarius on Nov 23, 2010 6:19 PM PST up reply actions

And if the Defense could just hold a lead

The Tampa Bay and Minnesota games would become wins, and we would be 5-5. Those games were frustrating as hell to watch.

How to beat the Niners

1) Keep Troy in the pocket
2) Wait until 3rd and long, then wait until a WR comes wide open in the middle for the first down. (If DA can hit a wide open receiver)
3) Make Sing a larger wooden cross for his neck. I think it makes him dumber.

I don’t think that at all… and of course this is all speculation on your behalf

With the wide open receivers

There is still a chance that DA might throw it so high that the receiver has to jump up to get it, or he will throw it so hard that the guy can’t catch it.
