After the 21-0 defeat at home by the Bucs and the first shutout since 1977 I started to think about where this team really needs to improve to avoid another horrible loss I expect the Packers to wipe the floor with the team that played on today. After the jump I will rank the positions that need improvement and should be addressed as crucial to turn this team around to what we have been expecting to see for the past 8 years... a contender.. I will only include my top three choices for each position.
1. A new Head coach: someone with experience at the position and one that would give our offense an identity. Possible Candidates: Jon Gruden, Mike Holmgren, or Jim Harbaugh
2. A franchise QB: With a new head coach comes a new attempt to pick their guy on draft day. It seems both Carolina and Buffalo have bigger issues than QB. Possible candidates via the draft: Andrew Luck (1st- STA), Jake Locker (1st- WAS) or Nick Foles (2nd-3rd- ARI)
3. A Shutdown Cornerback: I think it's time to dump Clements for draft picks to a playoff contender in need of db help and obtain a few early rounds draft picks (2nd or 3rd round) in the process. Clements is slow and the niner's defensive coaches have tried to hide this by playing zone more often which has led to big plays against young safeties. Possible candidates: Eric Wright (CLE), Patrick Peterson (1st- LSU), Brandon Harris (2nd- MIA)
4. A Right Guard: Someone that will help Davis in pass protection and one that can help a young line develop. Possible Candidates: Logan Mankins (NE), Carl Nicks (NO), Evan Mathis (CIN)
What would your niner's 2010 xmas list include that could be possible in 2011?
