Around SBN: Where Do The Lakers Go From Here?

A (optimistic) look at the NFC West Schedules..

49ers:

vs St. Louis- Win(obviously a must win, and I think we are the better team, but we will have to show it, 3-6)

vs Tampa Bay- Win(the bucs play tough, and i've grown to like them, but we're at home, with a more veteran team, this should be a win, but very hard fought, 4-6)

@ Arizona- Win(statement game here, on the National stage on monday night, it may be the Cardinals, but it none the less would be a huge game, 5-6)

@ Green Bay- Loss(simply because it's @ Lambeau, 10 am, and the Packers are looking very good, but I don't expect a blowout, 5-7)

vs Seattle-Win(coming off a tough loss, and revenge on our minds, we destroy the seahawks at home, improving to 6-7 with 3 games to go, 6-7)

@ San Diego-Loss(people thinking oh no, we're 6-8, season is over, but hey 2 division games left, and the Chargers are the best December team, but I wouldn't be surprised if we won this)

@ St. Louis-Win(we get one step closer to winning the division with a tough win against the Rams, 7-8)

vs Arizona-Win(For first place in division, our crowd will/would be rocking, we should be able to win this at home vs the Cardinals, but an exciting finish to the season, 8-8)

Projected finish: 8-8, 1st place in NFC West, 4th in conference

Rams:

@ San Francisco-Loss(see above)

vs Atlanta-Loss(Falcons are simply too good, but the Rams will give them all they can handle, 4-6)

@ Denver-Loss(Kyle Orton is very dangerous, and the Rams are simply too young to go into mile high stadium and get the win, 4-7)

@ Arizona-Win(Spagnoulo(correct my spelling if i'm wrong), has coached this team well, and they won't give up, so they pick up a much needed win over the Cardinals, still giving them a shot, 5-7)

@ New Orleans-Loss(The Saints are coming into their own here, especially with an early start, Rams will be in it early on, but the Saints will take over early, 5-8)

vs Kansas City-Win(coming home after a long 3 game road trip, and the season on the line, they show up and grind out a tough win over the Chiefs, 6-8)

vs San Francisco-Loss(see above,  6-9)

@ Seattle- Loss(not much to play for here, and they're playing at tough Quest field, but a promising season comes to an end with a tough loss, 6-10)

Project finish: 6-10, 3rd place in the NFC West

Seahawks:

@ Arizona-Loss(With or without Hasselbeck, they're defense has major problems, and they haven't been very good on the road, 4-5)

@ New Orleans-Loss(The Saints will destroy them, not much else to say, 4-6)

vs Kansas City-Loss(Chiefs ground game is too much for the Seahawks, 4-7)

vs Carolina- Win(I mean it's the panthers on the road, and Seattle is a tough place to play, big win for them, 5-7)

@ San Francisco-Loss(see above, 5-8)

vs Atlanta-Loss(again, the Falcons are simply too good for the Seahawks to stand a chance, though the home field will give them some hope, 5-9)

@ Tampa Bay-Loss(an utterly depressing loss to the buccaneers almost puts the nail in the coffin on the Seahawks season, 5-10)

vs St. Louis-Win(see above, in the Rams description, but they falter down the stretch, 6-10)

Projected finish: 6-10, 4th in the NFC West

Cardinals:

vs Seattle- Win(coming off a hard loss to the vikings, they come home and beat the Seahawks, 4-5)

@ Kansas City-Loss(tough to go into Kansas City and get a win, especially since the Chiefs are in the hunt and their fans will be crazy, but the Cardinals play decent on early games on the road, 4-6)

vs San Francisco-Loss(see above, 4-7)

vs St.Louis-Loss(tough loss at home to the rams, drops them to 4-8)

vs Denver-Win(much needed victory here, not out yet, 5-8)

@ Carolina-Win(they keep pace in the West, still not done, 6-8)

vs Dallas-Win(the Cowboys just plain suck, Cardinals still not done, 7-8)

@ San Francisco(for first place on the road, they put up a great fight, but just fall short, 7-9).

Projected Finish: 7-9, Second Place in the NFC West

Well there are my predictions, hopefully somehow that happens, what do you guys think?

Only thing I think should be changed for sure is Rams over the Broncos

Really, the Broncos are pretty bad right now and Bradford is playing pretty well thus far.

I’m not so optomistic about the Niners chances and realistically think the Rams are gonna win the division, but it’s possible if they get their act together

I wouldn't say for sure

The Broncos are hard to beat at Mile High.
No matter how bad they are they have a distinct home field advantage and always seem to play hard at Mile High.

And I don’t think they’re anywhere close to as bad as their record indicates.

Hope you're right...

And I hate to nitpick…you wrote this well. But I thought this was a funny quote: “especially with an early start, Rams will be in it early on, but the Saints will take over early” How can the Rams be in it early with an early start if the Saints take over early??

oh my mistake

thanks for pointing that out haha

Overall ....

I think this is very plausible. If Troy builds on his positive first start and establishes himself as the field leader I think he can be …… then it becomes very plausible.

Plausible.

I think we need to be 9-7 to win the division, because I don’t think the Seahawks implode quite that badly.

Haha

I’m pretty sure the 49ers will make it interesting. But, as always, they’ll disappoint and fall out of contention late. Odds are they end up 1 or 2 games out. Why trust these guys anymore? It’s the same story year after year.

An interesting wrinkle

would be a possible Al Harris pickup in time for the GB game.

We get some badly needed help in the secondary and insider tips to unlocking the GB defense. Could be enough to tip the scales in our favor, especially if we’re riding a hot streak into Lambeau…

Sounds Good

Possible, and very accurate according to my outlook

by STELF BOMBZ on Nov 8, 2010 3:23 PM PST reply actions

Maybe

Looks like we can even afford to lose to the Bucs and still win the tiebreakers and the division at 7-9.

Or if we play well and get to 8-8, the other NFC West teams don’t have too many games that they could win that you listed as losses, just a couple but 49ers would still get tiebreakers (except pending with Seattle).

If we can win all of the division games, then great we deserve to be in the playoffs. If we don’t show up, then we don’t belong.

by fortyniners on Nov 9, 2010 12:31 AM PST reply actions

Honestly though...

I think we have a decent chance of beating the Chargers. The Seahawks and Rams did it right??

by ZivilynBane on Nov 9, 2010 9:26 PM PST reply actions

I think this is reasonable...

but I’m done making predictions. The 2010 Niners have found 16 different ways to disappoint my expectations. Once they start winning some freakin’ games – -and particularly those that they’re supposed to win — then I might start thinking about the bigger picture.

I'm done with predictions as well...

But the NFC West is winnable. 8-8 could actually win it however I think one of these teams will eventually win 9 games. well…on second thought. HA! Terrible division.

The Rams look to be a team on the rise. Bradford is a gun slinger so we’re going to have to hit that guy.
