SB Nation Bay Area Editor's Pick
49ers-Cardinals HP Field Level Suite Ticket Giveaway
Recently I was contacted by HP. For those that don't know, HP is a fairly big sponsor for the 49ers and are actually listed as the "presenting football sponsor." The 49ers have numerous sponsors, but HP is definitely a fairly big one. More details on their contests can be found at their HP Play Facebook page.
HP Play has decided to conduct a contest with the prize being tickets in the field level dugout suit at Candlestick Park for the season finale against the Arizona Cardinals. They have been kind enough to provide six tickets to Niners Nation so that we can conduct our own contest giveaway. I'll be using two of them, but the remaining four are going to be given away to you guys. My plan is to give them away in two pairs since most people prefer to go to games with a friend. So we'll have two winners. To enter you'll need to be able to attend the game so if you're out of state and can't travel here or you know you're not available January 2 to attend, please keep that in mind.
How do you enter to win the tickets? Well, it's fairly simple. As Niners Nation has become such a major league media empire (do I have to explain sarcasm here?), we have a presence here at NN, on Twitter and on Facebook. In order to enter this contest there are multiple options. One is required and the rest will increase your number of entries.
MANDATORY
Using the comments section in this FanPost, write about your favorite 49ers experience whether it be while attending a game in person, watching one on tv, meeting a 49er player, or whatever. Just some interesting experience you've had involving the 49ers. It doesn't need to be a novel, although you're welcome to write as much as you want about the experience.
OPTIONAL: The above requirement gets you in the contest. For each one of the following that you do, you can gain an additional entry for a total of four possible entries in the contest. Although you'll have up to four entries, you can only win one pair of tickets.
1. Like NN's page on Facebook and post a comment in any of our wall posts about the contest: Half the free world seems to be on Facebook and I'd imagine most of you are. For those not on Facebook, the biggest thing I like about it is being able to reconnect with old friends. However, NN has a page over there and the plan is to get it a bit more active being just sending out our posts. We'll have multiple wall posts promoting this contest, so just commenting with your NN user name in there will add an entry for this contest.
2. Follow NN on Twitter and send us a quick tweet: It only takes a second to do this and I'd actually recommend following NN (@NinersNation) on twitter anyway as I like to use it for more than just sending out our posts each day. If you haven't signed up at Twitter and don't quite get the "Twitter thing," check out Tre9er's post on the value of Twitter to you as a football fan. It won't require all that much additional effort and I think it's definitely worth checking out. Send us a tweet with your NN user name and that will get you an additional entry for this contest.
3. Retweet something from @HP_PC to @NinersNation: So basically head over to HP's twitter page and retweet one of their tweets with @ninersnation included in the re-tweet (so I'll see the re-tweet).
All of these options together can give you up to four entries in this contest. If you're selected for one pair of tickets you are not then eligible to win the second pair of tickets, so the additional entries simply help your chances of winning a single pair. The post here at NN doesn't need to be a long treatise on your favorite moment, but any interesting details are welcome and would make for fun reading. The other three options for additional entries will only take a couple minutes to do.
If you have any questions, feel free to post them here or email me at ninersnation@gmail.com. If you're not able to attend the game, you're still welcome to post your favorite 49ers experiences, but please let me know that you can't attend the game so I don't include you in the drawing.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

Right on HP!
My favorite 49er experience. I actually can recall three of them:
My high school buddies and I were hanging out at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo, CA sometime in the mid-80’s. Jerry Rice and his family walked up behind us. My best friend probably was so star-struck all he could think of saying was “Nice to see you.” Jerry was cool about it, he just answered “Nice to see you too.” We still had to get on my friend’s case about it.
We also saw Dwight Clark at that same mall like a few years earlier with his wife. He went into The Round Table Pizza where my friend was working to use the restroom. Of course we waited till he got out to ask him for his autograph.
Superbowl XXIII held some good memories. I watched the game at my cousin’s house with about 10 or so buddies. I think that game brought a lot of people together, especially after the famous “John Candy” drive. I just remember it being a love fest after each TD that was scored in the 4th quarter. Especially the 2nd one!
Don't mind me, I'm on a roller coaster. . .

My favorite 49ers experience
It would definitely have to be the Monday Night game I got to go to in Arizona a couple years back (The infamous goal-line stand from the Cards). Even though we lost, just being in that atmosphere of Monday night was amazing and it was a great game too. I’ve only been to a few 49ers games (I live in Arizona), so each time I get to go it’s awesome.
This is a great contest
My favourite 49er moment was the game I attended at Ford Field in 2006. Yes, San Francisco was pitted against perennial Top 5 Draft Pick Detroit, but the game was more than memorable for several reasons.
1. Frank Gore set a franchise record for rushing yards in a half, much of which came on a 64-yard TD run on the team’s first possession on a 3rd and Long. I nearly jumped out of my seat and into the lower deck celebrating that TD run. Luckily the guard rail prevented me from making a quick descent.
2. Shawntae Spencer absolutely crushed Jon Kitna to begin the 3rd quarter and after the fumbled was awarded to the 49ers, a Lions fan sitting close to us crumpled up his bag of chips, whipped it to the ground, mumbled a swear word or six and left for home. Spencer’s hit would go on to be #1 on the MNF segment “Jacked Up”, and we all knew it would be the second the hit happened.
3. I was working 12-hour midnight shifts that weekend, and had finished up work at 7am. Instead of going to bed, I head over to Detroit to start tailgating. Knowing that I had a shift beginning at 7pm that same evening of the game, I limited my drinking after half-time. To say the least, I fell asleep standing up about 3 hours into my shift and volunteered myself for the rest of the night off. I slept like a log.
Alright, good luck to the contest winners, as I won’t be able to make it to San Francisco for January 2.

Gore's 61-Yard TD
I thought it was 64, but it was a 61-yarder.

Well i have to start off with how i got these memories. The year was 1987, my dad was one of the head EMT/First Aid instructors at Sierra College at that time, and was in good with the front office as he was the first call for medical supplies when things in the first aid camp got low. I was 7 at the time and too young and naive to know what i know about the players at that time.
My favorite moments have to be seeing the old greats at summer camp at Sierra college..I got to meet Cool Joe, ride on Bubba Paris’ shoulders as he was riding a golf cart back to the office facilities and got to hand Steve Young balls to throw to receivers as they were practicing routes, and got to stare at Ronnie Lott’s mashed finger.
Founder of team Omté Caspeen
That is awesome.
Is Sierra College where they practiced in Rocklin?
Alaska is a state, dammit! Can I get a Niner game on TV up here?
Man back in 03. I was 12 years old at the time. The miners finially made it to the playoff I was so pumped and thrilled. I’ve been the biggest niner fan since the day my dad threw on a niner helmet on me. I went to that game and it was the best feeling in the world. Just me and dad watching our favorite team. The best moment tho was when the giants messed up the snap and the ref blew that whistle some random guy lifted me on his shoulders screaming and I didn’t even care I was so happy.!!! It was the best. My second best moment had to be witnessing in person the catch 2! When t.o caught that ball and took that hit I went straight home in the living room on a school night trying my best to show my mom what I just saw. I would love nothing more then to take my dad to that arizone game! Cuz it will be another historic moment when that game ends and were officially in the playoffs!!
using my psychic powers
i predict that the next commentor will win a pair of tickets.
We don't need 8 in the box. We have 52 in the box.
My first and only game
back in 04, when we were 2-14, but it was the first chance i had to go a game, so you know why not. It was against the Bills, who were pretty good that season, but it was like cool we might win. Boy was I wrong, the whole game was flat out terrible, i mean Ken Dorsey was starting at the time, and our defense was absolutely atrocious. Still, throughout the game all i wanted to witness was a live 49er touchdown, and boy did i have to wait.
The Bills kept on scoring and scoring, 7-0, 10-0, 17-0, 20-0, 27-0, 34-0, 41-0…oh well the niners aren’t going to score any points today, let’s go guys. The Bills had the ball, and all of a sudden the niners have it, it was a turnover in the Bills side of the field, and the croud went nuts, that was awesome. We had left our seats but stood near the exist, and a few plays later, it happened. Kevin Barlow(i know right, hahaha) scored on a 1 yard run, and everyone went crazy, that was just awesome, just a lot of relief we scored. Of course we lost 41-7, but those 7 points were awesome to see in person.
Keep the faith people, and if it comes down to that Arizona game, I’d love to be there.
GO NINERS!!
Hit like Berry, Score like Jerry.
My best 49er Experience
Was the first year my Dad and Brother joined me for our annual Niner game. It was the season finale against the Redskins in 2008. It was our first time ever attending an NFL game, and the entire day was a non-stop barrage of new sights, sounds, and smells.
Shaun Hill drove down the field with authority, and Nedney clinched it with a last-second game winner, which was the hardest I think I’ve ever cheered for anything. Coming down the concourse we heard the news of Jed’s guarantee and Mike Singletary being appointed head coach…
It was just an amazing day and an amazing game, and it’s an experience I’ll always hold dear.
49er 'til I die! (if they don't kill me first)
My favorite 49er experience
I don’t know what this falls as, but I will just write. Thank you HP for the tickets to one of us and thank you Fooch for giving us the chance to win them.
During (or after? I’m unsure) the 2001 season, I attended with my family a charity event in which some 49ers played a basketball game against local firemen. The event was effectively MC’ed by Bubba Paris, the notable 49er OLmen of the late 80s. It was held at Kezar Pavilion, those who are wondering. During halftime, Bubba was talking about kids behaving and stuff and how they should listen to their parents and not to complain for what they do have become some kids do have less. (My memory is sketchy, but as a write, it’s coming back to me, I think it was a charity event for underprivileged kids). Then, Bubba wanted to show all the fans (sadly, probably only ~150 of us) what happens to kids that disobey, and asked for a volunteer. Me, being a 11 year old kid, raised my hand ecstatically. Bubba then pointed at me. I had no idea what was going to happen, but I just wanted to be “that guy” for once. So, in one swift motion, Bubba picked me up, said “listen to your parents, kids” into the microphone and walked me down the now-formed line of 49ers and firemen. Bubba walked me down and the 49ers/Firemen I passed spanked me.
After the event, I got a 49ers banner and got it signed by the players that were present. No great names here (other than Paris), and a couple of the signatures I can’t read, but for those curious, it was signed by Tim Rattay and Lance Schulters. There are three other signatures on there that I have attempted to look up but I can’t figure out who they are.
So, if you “too long; didn’t read” my passage, in summary, I am probably the only person in the world that has been picked up by Bubba Paris and then spanked on the butt by members of the San Francisco 49ers.
MURS for President!!!!!!!
Listening to the games on KGO radio in the early-mid 80's
I think it was Joe Starkey and Lon Simmons calling the games most of the time. This was when I was 6-9 years old, living in Lasen county and Butte county with no electricity, and no TV. The games on the radio were played out in my mind…I could see Roger Craig running, Montana passing, and Lott laying people out. I looked forward to those games all week.
I already have tickets to the Arizona game, so I am not trying to win them (I have already read a handful of stories better than mine, anyway). Fortyniner football is awesome, and it inspired me as a kid.
Alaska is a state, dammit! Can I get a Niner game on TV up here?
Favorite niners moment
remembering the superbowl victory. Steve Young to Jerry Rice over the chargers the good ol times!
Also, if I win the tix, we can have another contest for my seats to the above and right of the HP box.
BTW
you get to meet Jesse Sapolu and Dwight Clark in those HP seats.
My favorite niners moment is every game day
I get to spend three hours kicking it with my lil brother. No matter what is happening we always find a way to watch the game together. Take for example on the Thursday game he is currently half way across the world. With the benefit of technology we were able to talk to each other for hours while watching the game on our respective TVs.
Kellen Moore is awesome
Favorite 49ers Experience
Thats tough I can think back to plays I enjoyed that stick out in memory from the Super Bowl teams
I can remember selling Guess jeans to Jesse Sapolu.
My favorite though probably has to be the 49ers beating the Chargers 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX and this will sound bad but because they held up for me. I had bet a Cowboys friend twice that season and won already.
Then we went big (for me ) at $200 but I had to give him the 21 points we were favored at the time.
However watching that game was great!
Favorite niner memory
I would have to say that my favorite niners experience is continuous. I work at a high-risk highschool and one of the way I can bond with my students, especially the at risk ones, is thru football. Every Monday when we go back to school we discuss the game. I am always standing up for my niners and many of the students route for them as well. However, some are for the raiders or other teams and there is never an end to our continuous battle of team pride. I love that by just being a niner fan I can share a more personal relationship with my students. No matter if they like the work or not we can always find common ground in the niners
contest
I’m thinking probably this Wednesday.

I will be at the game regardless if I win the tix or not but....
ARE WE GOING TO TAILGATE??
last year.
Watching the niners beat the raiders, went to the game with my ex-girlfriend-who is a raiders fan. Loved that niners came through with the win. Preseason game but loved the fact that we won, beat the raiders and did not have to listen to anything from her about the raiders beating the niners.

Never been to a game
My memories all exist from watching the Niners on tv through the beautiful invention of NFL Sunday ticket. I don’t live in the Bay Area but this is the closest I’ve ever been (Portland, OR). Still hasn’t stopped me from being a die-hard fan. While there have been many memories of watching them play over the years, I would have to see my favorite is discovering the team through Topps NFL trading cards.
The year was 1986 and the place was my best friend’s bedroom. I was only 7 years old at the time and I remember being in awe of all the cards spread out across his floor. He kept schooling me about the 49er players that he had collected, especially Joe and Jerry. He even gave me one of his extra Rice rookie cards.

From that day forward, I bled the gold and red. Finally saw the Lakers play at home last year so now I just have to see a Niner game to complete the sweep.
what happens if you dont have facebook or twitter?

Giant Comeback
’Twas the year 2003 and the 49ers were in a playoff game against the pre-Eli New York Giants. After T.O. scored on the first drive, the 49ers became their future selves and trailed 38-14 midway in the third quarter. Being the optimist that I am, I kept thinking that they will score 3 TDs and 3 2-point conversions to tie the game.
After lots of pacing back and forth, Tai Streets caught a short TD pass from Jeff Garcia to put the 49ers up 39-38. I didn’t believe it at first, I have always hope/pray/dream of 49er comebacks from a large deficit but have never seen it happen until that day. Of course, the game didn’t finish without controversy and then the Bucs punished the 49ers the following week but it has and will forever stay in my mind as one of the most exciting 49er games I’ve watched entirely.
/Win the inning

Loma Prieta Earthquake
One of my most memorable 49er games was the one held in Stanford University’s stadium after the Loma Prieta earthquake. There was a feeling of camaraderie inside that stadium that I will never forget. It was electrifying. By the way, the game was good, too. ;-)
Winners...
I’ll be emailing the winners later this afternoon/evening to get your addresses so HP can FedEx you tix and a parking pass.
My favorite experience.
I went to a game against Detroit last December. My friends and I had good seats but i was surprised at how shoddy even ‘good’ seats at Candlestick were. We walked around the stadium, saw a few drunks fighting, but it was all good. We got some kettle corn, which was really bad, but in the end it didn’t matter. The fans were excited and even though the scoreboard was not of high quality to watch replays. The Niners won, and i was happy. It was nice to see a win, even if it didn’t matter. The niners are my team.
