Golden Nuggets: Gameday, Folks
Well, today is the day, folks. We've all went over the playoff scenarios, we know what it will take to make it. A loss today to the Chargers doesn't eliminate our 49ers, but it takes their fate out of their hands. A win today makes things considerably easier, with two opponents we've already beaten remaining. I don't know how much faith I have in this team, but I do know that I'll be watching with ... almost a morbid curiosity. Some of you don't want the team to win anymore; I totally disagree with this sentiment, but I suppose it makes sense to an extent. Either way, in my opinion, even if the 49ers make the playoffs and do some damage, Mike Singletary and Alex Smith will both be gone come next season. With Singletary, a lot of the coaching staff will be gone. That's just how I see it, regardless. Let's get to your links though, and as always: GO NINERS!
Did the 49ers fail Alex Smith, or did Alex Smith fail the 49ers? I would place 100% of the blame on the 49ers, personally. This is an organization in which a quarterback cannot presently succeed. This coaching staff can't coach them. Can't teach them. Can't win with 'em. (SacBee.com)

Go Niners!!!
The Niners will show here what will happen if for whatever reason they get to the playoffs. Very solid team with top ranked defense going against a Niners team playing like it’s the playoffs.(Hopefully)

Need I say, "Must win"?
If we cannot beat the bolts tonight we leave the strange fate of having the Seahawks and Rams lose the division for us to get in. If we cannot beat the bolts tonight we do not deserve to make the playoffs. If we cannot beat the bolts tonight we can start to wave goodbye to Mike Singletary and thank him for at least leading our team in it’s first nonlosing season in nearly a decade. If we cannot beat the bolts tonight we may lose fan interest and getting a stadium done is more difficult. If we cannot beat the bolts tonight Ninersnation will become a virtual world of hatred and cruelty. If we cannot beat the bolts tonight I will cry.
Anyone got a link to V Davis MTV crib's show ...!!

I'm so pissed I missed that

Failing Alex...
…sounds like a really good movie title.
It is like being in a relationship when you know it isnt doing you any good and you just grow cold and distant. We had our fun Alex, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Hopefully he lands in a good situation as a back-up or starter. I think he would play well if he started in Miami/Carolina or perhaps a back-up in Detroit
On tonight’s game: Been dreading watching this game all season. Hopefully the close games against the Saints, Falcons and Eagles will serve us well tonight. Rivers hasn’t had a bad game for a minute, so maybe he is due. Stop the run, Stop the big play and keep it close into the final minutes. Improbable, but not impossible.

The 9ers did fail Alex and that pisses me off way more than the streak of not making the playoffs. He could have been great, and he will be great, but never with us.

probably never be great
We got him pretty good. Its like that hot chick that gets knocked up. Never the same. Alex is damaged goods. He has become so gun shy that he may never get over his rookie year

Random question
If you don’t have the NFL Network, will this game be on a local channel in Sacramento?

I’m not sure if your local TV station would broadcast it. I would recommend a stream, they are always helpful for out of town fans like myself.

I'm in Sacramento too
and it looks like we’ll not get the game on TV without NFLN.
Support Alex Smith! (at least until we're mathematically eliminated!)

1) Jake Locker QB Washington 2) Brandon Harris CB Miami 3) Owen Marecic FB/LB Stanford 4a) Jarvis Jenkins DE/DT Clemson 4b) Kai Forbath K UCLA 5) Colin Jones FS TCU (or Best FS Available) 6) BPA 7) BPA
LOL @ mcwagner's analogy
“We got him pretty good. Its like that hot chick that gets knocked up. Never the same.”
He maybe never be a great QB but I have a feeling wherever he goes with some luck etc. he will flourish and be more productive than he was ever here..
The Niners definitely failed Alex...
…but I’m not at all convinced he would have been a great QB if he’d gone somewhere else like Green Bay.
How about this?

Wow really?
As long as we win, that’s all that matters. I would actually like it if we won with 6-10, because we would get a better draft pick!

Definetly the Niners fault
Smith started to show some promise when Norv Turner was the OC. Since then he has had a bunch of clowns running the offense. Its not surprising that he hasn’t become teh QB we wanted him to be.
I have a feeling he is going to turn it on the last three games though. Go Niners!
