White: Team Source Says Singletary Told He's Fired

As the title says, 49ers head coach Mike Singletary was recently told he was fired.

EDIT: Matt Maiocco gets Jed York's confirmation on the move.

2ND EDIT: NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora reporting that Singletary was fired after given the option to resign. Defensive Line coach Jim Tomsula will coach 49ers in the season finale.

Battle didn't have to be over

They just had to know they were defeated. Singletary has been defeated for weeks. Should have happened a while ago.

Jed was probably honest and told Mike to prepare for not being a 49er anymore after next weeks game. Mike refused to resign and probably told Jed to just finish the action and proceed with what is best. This is pure speculation based on the attitudes of both men. They are both very honest and Sing does not fall easily
