Disgruntled Kyle Orton is #3 QB
Hear me out guys...Kyle Orton is 28yrs old but has been dropped to #3 on the depth chart behind Tim "Jesus 2.0" Tebow and Brady "Alex Smith is Better Than Me" Quinn. In 3 seasons he has 71td & 41int while averaging 200 yds/game with essentially no rb/wr on his Bears/Broncos team and a 29-19 record. Best part is that for a couple of draft picks (it wont take 1st rd maybe a '10 3rd and '11 2nd) we can have a legit qb while Nate Davis, Troy Smith, or whichever qb we draft blossoms and learns the system.
Additionally Josh McDaniels is looking for a job, the same McDaniels that helped create the offensive monster of the 2002-2008 Patriots. Yes he's a pompous dick and I wouldnt want him anywhere near a position that includes player management.
So McDaniels would have 2 yrs experience with Orton, Orton would have an upgrade at WR/TE/RB/OL, Niners still keep their #1 pick for Secondary or if a QB falls to their spot and Niners stop calling an inside draw on 3rd and 20. Sounds like a win/win situation to me.
I feel like that would be the best/most cost effective QB/OC combination...any other suggestion?

Orton is not the long-term solution but ...
could be an effective transition QB, enabling us to develop and groom a QB draftee. He better than any of the free agent QBs that will be available and certainly in the top half of veteran QBs that you could trade for. Key questions would be (1) what are Denver’s new head coach’s plans for the QB position (Tebow vs. Orton vs. Quinn) and (2) what level of compensation would they require?

Orton would be a nice 2 year solution but i can’t see him as long term, i for one would not give up a 2nd and 3rd round pick for him. What do you think about Drew Stanton?
I'd gladly trade a 3rd rounder for Orton
Nothing more, just like every stopgap QB out there. Orton for a 3rd and I’d do jumping jacks.
Rays in '08.... Desmond Jennings - the breakout continues.....
I'd get him for a conditional 3rd
if he meets certain parameters (say Pro Bowl appearance, etc.) bump it to a 2nd
This would be worthy as a fanshot
And I’d be happy with Orton at least as a transitional quarterback—especially for a 3rd-rounder. And I’d love McDaniels as a QBs coach. Hard to argue that he doesn’t do good work.
Through 10 games, this looks to me like a 5-11 team.

It is a fanshot
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Other suggestion , yes .. no Troy nor Nate ...!!
I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's just my game ...Jimmy Raye your no daisy ...!!
He's really not a bad QB.
Don’t know why everyone thinks he is…
In 13 games he had an 87 passer rating, 20 TD’s and 9 INT’s.
He’s been fairly solid in a not-so-great offense surrounding him.
I specifically remember him picking apart the 49ers in an impressive way earlier in the season.
Not a bad option at all.

hahahaha... Tim "Jesus 2.0" Tebow...
Id like McDaniels as the OC and nothing more!
And Orton..let me just say this as clearly as possible…
I DESPISE Kyle “I have sand in my Va*&na” Orton.
BUT. i think he is a good transition QB, but nothing more. 1 year contract and thats it.

Why a one year contract?
Who do you intend to be the back up when our next QBOTF is ready to start? Orton should get locked up for a while at a moderate contract, or at least after two years, considered to be re-signed as our back up.

In all honesty
i dont want him on the team at all. Id rather get S. Hill back on the team to back up our QBOTF.

I had this same thought yesterday
I think Orton would be the best option out there for us to take. We could then pick up a Mallet or someone similar in the draft and let them sit for 2-3 years.
Of course its difficult, its a shortcut... if it was easy it'd just be "the way."
If we get him he should be looked at as the long term answer.
but I rather draft a qb and let him be the qb.
I dont believe in draft a player and sit him on the bench.
if a qb is going to make it, he is going to make it.
if he is going to be a bust then lets let him bust and move on.

but if we do get him
we can draft aj green
so our offense would like like this-
aj green
vd
crabs
gore/westbrook/dixon
orton
would just need a coach to coach.
