100 in 100: Devin McCourty (33 of 100)

Devin McCourty could possibly end up being the best Corner coming out in this draft. He has the potential anyway. He didn't have the stats of a Patrick Robinson or Joe Haden but he does have the tangibles to be a success at the next level. The Rutgers corner also has top speed and does kick returns as well.

McCourty's twin brother (Jason McCourty) played for Rutgers last season. He was selected in last years draft in the 6th Round and is now playing Cornerback for the Tennessee Titans. McCourty (Jason) got his first start against Jacksonville filling in for an injured Courtland Finnegan and did relatively well for a rookie in his first full game. By most of the analyst, Devin has been ranked higher all season long than his brother Jason was last year and is expected to go fairly high in the draft.

Devin proved in the Senior Bowl that he plays the ball exceptionally well and that he is not afraid to come up and make the hit on Receviers as well. Between him and Patrick Robinson, they definitely shared the spotlight as far as Corners were concerned. It's quite probable that the Senior Corner helped his stock in this years upcoming draft in that game.

Rutgers will have a few more players entering this years draft, the most notable Anthony Davis and Tim Brown....no, there is no relation to Oakland Raiders Tim Brown. Rutgers in the last few years has produced some top tier talent. With the likes of players such as Ray Rice, Kenny Britt, and now possibly Devin McCourty, Rutgers should see more and more recruits signing their intent. The small program in New Jersey has come a long way since 1873.

Below, I'll provide highlights, stats, and projections on when and where I believe McCourty will go.

Star-divide

This video has highlights of both of Devin McCourty (#21) and his twin brother Jason (#25). There weren't a whole lot of options regarding highlights of McCourty, so I hope this will suffice for those that haven't had the privelage of seeing him play. As I mentioned above, McCourty is very well-rounded and has been gifted with an above average skill-set. You won't see this Corner getting beat too often.

SUMMARY AND PROJECTIONS:

McCourty will have the opportunity at the combine (February 24th, 2010) to bump his stock up more than he already has and I anticipate that he will. Once in the NFL, I believe that him and Patrick Robinson will be the best of their class. McCourty earlier in the season had been ranked about a 2nd to 3rd Round guy. Though since, he has climbed his way all the way to possibly a late 1st, early 2nd Round pick. I don't expect McCourty to fall out of the 2nd Round but the draft is a unique animal from year to year. He's 5'11" and weighs roughly 200 LBS.

Possibilities -- 1st Round; Picks 20-32, 2nd Round; Picks 33-48.

Love this prospect

Really passes the eyeball test. Tackles well. Runs well. Nose for the ball. Nice size. Could be a good fit for the Niners at 16/17. Although potentially a reach there. Thanks for the video and the write up!

I want winners!!
