2010 San Fransisco 49ers

If we are looking to be a dynasty 2010-20?? this is what our roster should look like

                                                                                                    Offense

    QB-Alex Smith/N.Davis/Matt Rothe Rd.5 USF

    RB-Frank Gore/Anthony Dixon 2nd Rd. Miss.St. 6'1"-245 lbs./Glen Coffee

    WR-Mike Crabtree/J.Hill

    WR-Terrell Owens FA/Josh Morgan/B.Jones

    TE-Vernon Davis

    TE-Delanie Walker

    LT-Trent Williams Rd.1a Oaklahoma/Tony Pashos

    LG-David Baas/Brandon Carter 4th Rd. Texas Tech 6'7"345

    C-Eric Heitman/

    KR/PR Dexter McCluster WR Rd.4

Key Departures:Demetrice Evans, Michael Lewis, Shawn Hill, Isaac Bruce, Walt Harris, Mark Roman, Arnaz Battle, .

                                                                                                        Analysis

We will for the first time in 8 years absolutely be in the post-season. Also we we have a team geared towards the future with a few retirements down the line in T.O.,and Peppers. With Taylor Mays in the deep secondary with our new found ball hawk, and run supporter D.Goldson, and our pass rush with A.Franklin up the middle, Peppers,Smith,Brooks,Harylson on the edges our CBs will all be great. Also RB Anthony Dixon will provide us with some thunder to help out the ground game along with Coffee.

Our Recieving corps will be extremely dangerous for everyone in the league. T.O. Crabz, V.D., Gore, D. Walker, J.Morgan, J.Hill, and unproven threat B.Jones will give A.Smith all the fire power he would need in our new found ir attack. Our defense, and offense would be in the top 5.

Dexter McCluster would give us a great special teams returner, and slot reciever...Peace Stelf Bombz...Holla Back

Peppers

Once again, Peppers doesn’t want to play DE. He wants to play OLB.

by David Fucillo on Feb 25, 2010 8:09 PM PST reply actions

What????

Peepers doesnt want what? He is a DE. He want to win, and get paid. There’s a SF helmet waiting for him with a couple championship rings

by STELF BOMBZ on Feb 25, 2010 8:14 PM PST up reply actions

3-4

In the 3-4 he wants to be an OLB. Personally I pray the 49ers don’t unload the kind of cash that would be necessary to land Peppers. Use that money to extend Willis, Davis, etc…

by David Fucillo on Feb 25, 2010 8:19 PM PST up reply actions

Even if he is a DE

Putting him at DE in a 3-4 is a backwards move. He’s a pass rusher. They need to be on the outside as a 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE.

by TexansDC on Feb 25, 2010 8:35 PM PST up reply actions

I agree.

Peppers doesn’t fit our system, and he would cost too much.

NO T.O.!!!!! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!

SORRY FOR USING CAPS LOCK BUT IT IS NECESSARY TO SAY NO TO T.O.!!!!!

Oh goody ~ another year of Alex Smith fans making excuses for his mediocre skills and uninspired leadership.

I REALLY am skeptical about getting Mays, too.

And T.O.? No thanks.

by Blank x2 on Feb 26, 2010 9:22 PM PST up reply actions

Points

1) It’s Grothe not Rothe and he is most probably going to be UDFA. Was he even invited to the combine?
2) Alex Boone was on our PS and we had injuries at OT and OG, what did we do? We brought in Chris Patrick. I think that says a lot.
3) So you have Trent Williams who struggled in College (let me repeat College not the pros) at LT playing LT in the pros and moving out Staley to RT who struggled at RT in the pros? Am I getting that right?
4) So you want to have Peppers and TO playing on the 9ers with Alex Smith and Grothe (picked in the 5th round though he could most probably be gotten in UDFA) playing the one that he goes on the podium and says “That’s my quarterback”? Oh and he’s gonna be the #2 receiver? Stranger things have been done, not by much.
5) You want to have Taylor “I do what the coaches tell me to do, like miss balls and whiff on tackles.” Mays playing as our safety? Some may like that, IMHO it would be a mistake. And you want to switch our backup SS and have him be the backup FS and have our backup FS be our backup SS? Umm why?

Sorry I don’t get it. Elucidate me.

by ChesapeakeBay9er on Feb 25, 2010 9:50 PM PST reply actions

1. No idea
2. Yup
3. I didn’t know that about Williams now I don’t even want him. Switching Staley to RT is a no no it’s kind of like eating cookies before dinner, at first it sounds good then you do it and you say why the hell did I just do that
4. No Peppers no TO I prefer to have my team drama free but that’s just me. Maybe Singletary likes tension in the locker room.
5. God the only safety that I want to Berry if Berry drops to 13 I won’t play on my phone during class. So no on mays.

I was going to counter your arguments but it turns out I agree with you on every point.

campbell is really a pure LT. His run blocking isn’t that good

The Patriots should draft him, then.

Run blocking

He definitely has the strength to be an elite run blocker.
He just doesn’t have the technique down.

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

I Don't Think So Either

but i am going by the projections of nfl draft suite.

I like your ideas. We need you in the froont office. ASAP!!!. i DON’T THINK sPIKES WILL BE THERE WHEN WE’RE ON THE CLOCK. Also Cromartie is gonna demand more than what you offered. Damaryus Thomas may go in the early second round. He’s good.Joey Porter. EEEh!. I don’t really see him in RED, and GOLD.

my he has some right some wrong

but i do feel him on the terrel owens thing people pile on he does give us the ammutition 2 true dat ,but with this team that diva roll i think will be in check he’s on of THE best blocking wide receivers still in the N.F.L i do feel that jason hill is a good speed WR now that keeping sopaga stuff is whee he’s totally of he needs 2 go quik and david baas can go 2 scott mcilloop will never be a 3downs ILB 2 slow but a good 3rd down ILB he has a nose 4 the ball.

If you look

there’s been listed here Peppers, Porter and Owens. It was noted as having a Dynasty but seems like it could end up being a Football version of the old show Dynasty LOL

by ChesapeakeBay9er on Feb 26, 2010 4:42 PM PST up reply actions

OK

Everyone has made some great points, and observations. I believe Taylor Mays will be fine. He reminds me of Sean Taylor from Washingtron(R.I.P.). hE HAS MADE SOME MISTAKES, BUT i SEE A FUTURE rONNIE lOTT WITH HIM. sEE, EVERYONE WANTS GUYS WHO STEP RIGHT IN AND BECOMES PRO’S. The reality is certain players have what they call POTENTIAL, and great upside. I see these traits with T.Mays, T.Williams, and with Matt Grothe, Thanks Fooch!. These are just my ideas. Did anyone see Bob Sanders becoming the Star he was before injuries set in.Yup! Someone did, and everyone else said no,no,no, he’s too small, he’s a corner. Ronnie Lott wasn’t great in the begining either. The object is to see the future.

by STELF BOMBZ on Feb 26, 2010 4:58 PM PST reply actions

Actually, Lott was great in the beginning

Team Captain and unanimous All-American at USC…

8th pick in the 1981 draft…starting cornerback from day 1…Pro Bowler in his rookie season…first-team All Pro in his first season…

by TexansDC on Feb 26, 2010 5:58 PM PST up reply actions

Mays is a unanimous All-American and All-Pac 10 also… just a fyi.

ESPN lied to me

by Drew Kerr on Feb 26, 2010 9:39 PM PST up reply actions

History's on his side then...

Given all his physical tools, there’s a part of me that would actually love to see what Coach Sing could get out of him (especially when you look at VD’s breakout season this year). I am on the Spiller/OT train, but the idea has crossed my mind once or twice.

by TexansDC on Feb 26, 2010 9:55 PM PST up reply actions

My opinion on Mays has fluctuated between not wanting him at all to maybe

to sure, let’s get him back to not wanting him.

Just haven’t made up my mind yet.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will probably get picked in the first round.

by smileyman on Feb 26, 2010 9:56 PM PST up reply actions

At least he’s been decisive in not changing his sig.

Oh I'm decisive enough in some things

been hating against Joe Haden from the very beginning and on the Eric Berry bandwagon.

I’ve had a change of heart on Mays because of his interviews and play at the Senior Bowl.

Most of the other stuff I’m not too concerned on—I don’t have my cart hitched to any one horse as it were.

Yes Drew K, Tim Tebow will probably get picked in the first round.

by smileyman on Mar 1, 2010 2:11 AM PST up reply actions

Mays had trouble covering in college though and he never was a corner like Lott. No Taylor Mays he’s a linebacker playing safety.

49ers Al Grito De Guerra!!! hahaha

by 49erSalvatrucha on Feb 26, 2010 8:14 PM PST up reply actions

Name a LB that can run a sub 4.4 40-yard dash… there aren’t many, it’s not an easy thing to do. He’s a safety with the size of a LB… opposite of your statement

ESPN lied to me

by Drew Kerr on Feb 26, 2010 9:41 PM PST up reply actions

Patick Willis

I don’t agree that Mays is a LB playing S though.
He weighs around 20 lbs less than a LB.

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

by SportsChicken on Feb 26, 2010 11:47 PM PST up reply actions

Well he looks like one when hes playing lol

49ers Al Grito De Guerra!!! hahaha

by 49erSalvatrucha on Feb 27, 2010 12:37 PM PST up reply actions

I strongly disagree

Mays (almost) never played close to the LOS at USC.

He was so far off the screen that it was impossible for a fan watching on TV to see him react to the snap.
I can’t knock on his coverage because I could NEVER see him in coverage.
I can, however, knock on his inability to wrap up in the open field.

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

by SportsChicken on Feb 27, 2010 5:26 PM PST up reply actions

Well I would not draft him in the 1st

by SportsChicken on Mar 1, 2010 10:06 PM PST up reply actions

oops my bad.....

No Taylor Mays…..the 2 best in the draft this yr are Rolle and Berry, and not necessarily in that order.
NO T.O. EVER AGAIN! I’LL STOPWATCHING THE NINERS FOREVER AND NEVER LOOK BACK!
Sorry….had to get that out of my system. Upgrade at QB…..Sings stickin with Smith (although only God knows why…..) but, I say release Hill and get Jason Campbell or D. McNabb to backup (if only for a lil while.) Both can probably be gotten for a song. And before you trash Jason hear this. 1) His O line sucked in DC. 2) He played with a buch of alligator armed smurfs at receiver. 3)His arm strength dwarfs hill’s and he’d be a perfect compliment to Alex in the unlikely event something “TRAGIC” might happen to the “Golden Boy” Smith.

No thankyou on Rolle I prefer my players total dream is to play in the NFL not be a doctor.

by manraj7 on Feb 27, 2010 1:07 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

I’ll take Rolle in a heartbeat. Frankly anyone who thinks that the fact that the man is intelligent and intellectual is a negative is plain stupid. Plus they’re projecting him as a 3rd or 4th rounder. The value there is incredible.

And if the Niners were to consider getting McNabb, it wouldn’t be so he could back up Smith.

by BonyChicken27 on Feb 28, 2010 11:35 AM PST up reply actions

Agreed.

It should never be a negative that a prospect is mature and intelligent.

I was looking for a picture of Mike Wilson (the old Niner) and for some reason that was one of the pics when I googled for images.
