It’s time to end the disappointing Smith era in SF
Can the 49ers brass come up with a better solution to our qb woes this offseason?

Another Smith is a bust topic? NO WAY!
It feels like every week we get a Smith is a bust and Davis is the savior topic. Oh well it never gets old.
Smith
Well, I’ll at least thank the author for posting it as a FanShot.
I would actually disagree on the confidence issue at this point. I think his confidence has improved this season now that he’s healthy. I think we’ll see a big rise in confidence in the coming year.

I’m sorry I just don’t see it. It is evident every time the team enters the huddle. He just doesn’t take charge like most other starting qb’s in the league. You have to be the leader of the huddle. The team will feed of the confidence and leadership from its starting quarterback, something I personally believe Alex does not posses.

It’s pretty hard to throw the ball if you get sacked before you finish your drop back.

NATE DAVIS IS OUR FUTRE!
Sorry, had to get that in. ;) Anyways whether you like it or not Smith will be the starting QB in 2010 when we are the favorites to take the division.

Please re-enter the 21st century....
As an African American, I’m highly dissappointed that THAT comment would even come out of you r thouoghts/ THe REAL reason folks are so high on Davis is simple. We have seen what Smith and Hill have brought to the table and found them lacking. I would still call for Davis to be given the chance if he were white, black, brown or striped. The bottom line is, let’s see what he can bring, because it’s obvious, the 2 we have in front…..simply aren’t the answer!

Alex Smith has put in 5 years in this league and is a survivor
Alex Smith also knows that Coach Singletary won’t hesistate to swap him out with Shaun Hill— if Alex starts choking. The competition with Alex and Shaun is a good thing. You’ll see motivation from both of these QBs because they want to be starters. Alex and Shaun know that their jobs aren’t secure by no means.

agree on the survivor comment
He may never end up doing anything for his career, but I think he’s earned a chance to build on this past half season. He’s got plenty of work to do, but I think he has the necessary mindset.

We are stuck
Although we may disagree on Alex’s level of confidence, we are all probably going to have to face the fact that he will be our qb for yet another year. I just worry about the some of our other players i.e. Vernon and Willis leaving town before we can reel in a legitimate starting quarterback. I just worry about time passing us by…
The sixth year !
McC’s Boy is here to stay, We have no choice. I personally don’t care for him. He hasn’t shown the poise or confidents to be a All Pro. But, McC and Sing are willing to stick with him, no matter what. So people have knock Davis and yes it’s true he hasn’t earn anything until Sing puts him in real action. I do agree that giving Davis time is the best thing they have done with the young Man and maybe he might be the future QB. But until then, we are STUCK with Smith !!!!
