He does not want to remain with the chok...I mean...chargers and may want to stay in California, in which case, San Francisco is the best chance he has at a SB victory; for the right price, he can add a veteran presence and be a great backup to Gore.

LT signs with the Raiders, the Raiders trade Michael Bush and Darren McFadden to the 49ers for Mark Roman, and some eye black.
I don’t think Tomlinson is going anywhere to be a backup. There has to be a few teams that would want him as a starter. If he does go somewhere with a reduced role, I would see it being a bigger contender than San Francisco.
He might still be able to start somewhere. The Chargers running game was pretty terrible last year in general. It’s hard to say how much of that was due to LT’s decline.
I think he’ll go to the Pats. They love to give older backs another chance and hate Maroney.

Tomlinson is on his way downhill fast
Unfortunately, with a lot of good running backs, decline and fall can be almost instantaneous (think Walter Payton for example). Honestly, though, I don’t think he has anything to offer the 49ers. He might play another year or maybe even two, but it won’t be a pretty sight. Although the Niners depth at RB is pretty abysmal right now, drafting somebody, even in the 3rd round, would fix it, because I’m pretty sure Coffee is not the answer.
I thought running backs who ran downhill were a good thing.
