Playoff Prediction Games: The Super Bowl RESULTS

You know what's kind of interesting? The real Super Bowl featured probably the top two seeds in the entire playoffs this year. And OUR head-to-head Super Bowl featured the two lowest possible seeds. Weeeeeeird, I know.

Anyway, I like to start my final results threads with an overall feeling of, "eh..." So there's that.

Star-divide

New Orleans "@" Indianapolis:

  1. bignerd (8)
  2. bonbrillio, snowweasel30, BucksForever (14)
  3. PHUT! (18)
  4. ZeroIndulgence, leaping_larry (20)
  5. London_9er, YoungWillis, beecharmer (22)

That makes our FINAL playoff results look like this:

Wow. Congratulations to ZeroIndulgence. I was joking last week about how those of seven points back could steal the whole game if you just laid a total egg, and in the end it did end up coming right down to the wire. Your two points this week were just barely enough to edge out bignerd, who came out swinging this week with the top prediction. Although, it would have taken a goose egg from Zero to turn the tables completely, as he had the tiebreak win over bignerd if it had come down to that point.

Good stuff. I'm not completely sure how the prize breakdown is going this year, but I expect Fooch will make an announcement and e-mail those who should be getting prizes.

Before I move onto the bracket, I want to thank London_9er and BucksForever for joining the game. Even joining at such a late stage, I'm glad to see more new people enjoying this silly thing I helped put together three years ago.

Now, for the head-to-head matchup!

(12) YoungWillis "@" (11) cassusriff

Super Bowl: YoungWillis (Saints) @ cassusriff (Colts) - Point YoungWillis

            Score: YoungWillis 1 - cassusriff 0
            Winner: YoungWillis

Fans across the nation (and parts of Canada) were treated to a real thriller this past Sunday as not one, but TWO Cinderella stories duked it out for control of the controversial glass slipper. Number 11-seed cassusriff initially locked YoungWillis in the proverbial basement while the proverbial Prince Charming came around with the slipper. Proverbially speaking, cassusriff made it through halftime with the confidence of one who knows that his or her proverbial foot is soft enough and petit enough to fit in not only in whatever glass slipper some Prince Schlub brought around, but also any wood, leather, or fleece slippers that he might be carrying in his bag. Then, the fear began to set in. With the Saints coming back in the real game, cassusriff started to get nervous. Proverbially, this was the point that cassusriff cut off the big toe on each foot, positive that doing so would make it easier to fit any proverbial slipper. But the glass slipper proverbially filled with blood - and the Prince wasn't looking for a proverbial ruby slipper. At that very moment, YoungWillis proverbially broke the hell out his confinement and punched cassusriff across the jaw. Lacking proverbial big toes, cassusriff's compromised balance sent him straight to the ground. YoungWillis then proverbially washed out the slipper, put it elegantly on his foot, and proverbially used it to walk all over the bleeding, writhing, sobbing form of cassusriff.

Congratulations, YoungWIllis. You're the ultimate Cinderella story. And you look awesome in heels.

"Camelot - Camelot," said I to myself. "I don't seem to remember hearing of it before. Name of the asylum, likely."

It was a soft, reposeful summer landscape, as lovely as a dream, and as lonesome as Sunday. The air was full of the smell of flowers, and the buzzing of insects, and the twittering of birds, and there were no people, no wagons, there was no stir of life, nothing going on. The road was mainly a winding path with hoofprints in it, and now and then a faint trace of wheels on either side in the grass - wheels that apparently had a tire as broad as one's hand.

Ironic

To have a rabbit and a weasel tied for sixth place.
Oh well, 6th out of 42 isn’t bad for a rookie.

Also ironic that a lot of the playoff players didn’t do well in the free-for-all competition.
Time to suffer through the prediction withdrawal syndrome…

Congrats to all of the winners

YoungWillis, I didn’t think your head would be in the game with those marijuana pipe picture allegations, but you made everyone proud so! Congratulations!

HTS thanks for another fun year of the prediction games, fantastic work as usual.

BTW, I noticed no one was in 5th place so I was thinking maybe you could slide me down to the 5th place spot? 5th and 8th are basically the same thing. I rec’d one of your comments this week if that’s worth anything.

Even if it doesn’t win me a prize I think 5th place would look better on the certificate that I’m going to make and print out to put on my wall.

Anyway. Good times, can’t wait until next year.

Woot! Even though I didn’t make the big boys playoffs, I’ll take the consolation FFA championship. I thought I might have a chance at squeeking out a win once the Saints had locked it up, and as it turns out, those 2 points were huge. Hopefully I can take this confidence and roll into next season as a force to be reckoned with!

And congrats to YoungWillis for his improbable victory in the playoff prediction games that mattered most! I’m coming for you next season!

Seriously though, a big thanks to those powers that be for setting this up. I assume it takes a lotta time and energy, all for our enjoyment…and it is very much appreciated.

lol wjackalolpe

talk about laying an egg. I haven’t done anything right since the playoffs started. Ouch.

Congrats to all the winners – well played.

Howie, many many thanks as always – the time and energy you devote to this is much appreciated. You are top notch all around.

Thanks to everyone for playing – I’m glad this little dog an pony show we started has turned into such a big hit.

A hearty thank you to Rich Aurilia for all the good memories, and to the Niners for finally getting the uni's (mostly) right.
