Greetings from GGN!
Hey guys I am fan over at Gang Green Nation, the SB Nation Blog for the Jets, and we are doing a community draft thing for our site. So in doing this each one of the users will pick a team, hence me getting the Niners, and are going to scout team needs most likely possibilities come draft day so if you could help me supply your team needs that'd be great!
The only thing I think you need is a tackle but after all I am an ignorant New Yorker. :)
Oh and BTW I am a SF Giants fan and am STOKED for the season!

How many rounds are you guys doing over there?
And have you heard anything about Leon Washington’s leg and how that’s healed up?
Member of the legendary David Carr thread, 6 March 2010
Leon is making a speedy recovery
but he won’t be absolutely 100% until Mid March, thats a nasty injury. IF you guys sign him though you won’t regret it I honestly hope we can keep him but a second round pick this year would be great!
Bonds... hit is high.... He hits it DEEEEEEEP..... OUTTA HERE BONDS STANDS ALONE- Duane Kuiper on 756

Do you think the Jets would be ok with a conditional 3rd
instead of an outright 2nd?
Member of the legendary David Carr thread, 6 March 2010
I doubt that
unless if the niners could somehow sweeten the deal I think Leon is liked to much by the organization, and seen as a lot more valuable. Dave Hutchinson of the Star Ledger says that he doesn’t think the Niners are serious about signing Leon they are just testing his wheels and keeping their options open. If Leon signs early it’ll be with the Jets if Leon goes to the end of RFA period I’d say you guys will be gettin him

Right Tackle and Strong Safety are the two biggest glaring needs
Crowded elevators smell different to midgets.
Cool dude!

Also
Some sort of special teams/ return man, whether drafted for that specifically or thru another position.
Chris Cohan- YOU'RE FIRED!
Very True
The front office has, however, shown a tendency to draft the best player available. If someone slips unexpectedly, it’s possible the niners would jump on them even if they don’t play a position of need.
Please tell me we have moved past the dark ages of post hoc ergo propter hoc.

I totaly agree
But why do you have C.J. Spiller as your #1 pick ?
by LASVEGASNINER on Mar 11, 2010 8:33 AM PST up reply actions
We also need a change of pace back and a KR/PR
which is why I was asking about Leon Washington
Member of the legendary David Carr thread, 6 March 2010
Other than a RT, a returner is desperately needed
Preferably one that can also play coverage on ST.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.
If Berry falls draft him. We also need a LG so Iupati is my choice there. If we you do two round Veldheer is my choice because he’s gonna be a good RT. Also a KR would be nice.
by manraj7 on Mar 10, 2010 7:19 PM PST via mobile reply actions
It would take a miracle for Berry to fall to us
But Earl Thomas should be there and I think he’d be a good fit.
Don't trust this guy. He lies.
Hm...
1. Right tackle (Adam Snyder gave up 9.5 sacks this past season, Pashos signed with the ‘Skins)
2. Kick returner (4.4 average on punt returns and no specialist on the team)
3. Cornerback (Shawntae Spencer is the best cornerback on the team and everything else is a question mark. Clements, Bly and Harris could all be gone and Brown has yet to elevate his play to the next level)
4. Strong safety (Michael Lewis sustained two or three concussions this past season, and while his play level is high, it’s something that the team definitely needs to look at. The team would not shy away from giving someone like Mays the starting job right away)
5. Defensive end (The left side is a huge weakness. Isaac Sopoaga isn’t counted on to rush the passer as he is a 3-4 end, so his job is to stop the run. He sucks at stopping the run… do the math)
6. TED linebacker (Takeo Spikes is a great player, and in my opinion, one of the best TED linebackers in the league, but he’s probably done after this season and the team needs someone to play alongside Willis. Either picking someone with high upside late, or going with someone who can instantly play next to him in Rolando McClain early)
And then God created Saturn.. And he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

nice summary
and these choices would be the ideal picks this year.
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect Smith to be super so soon.
If Devin McCourty somehow fell to the 49ers in the second round
It would take care of 2 and 3 on your list. If McCourty is still there after day one and the 49ers didn’t draft Spiller, they should try to make a deal with the Rams for the 33rd pick to get him.
Don't trust this guy. He lies.
I don't know about that.
When is Arenas supposed to go? I’d like him in the second. Either way, the Rams won’t be doing us any favors on draft day, and he’s just not worth losing two picks for.
And then God created Saturn.. And he liked it, so he put a ring on it.
Arenas = Rossum… He won’t make a good Corner in the NFL. Much too high of a pick for him. IMO. There will be better return men in way later rounds that actually do that better than him.
Crowded elevators smell different to midgets.
Arenas = Rossum with ability to play coverage on ST too.
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Or
Arenas = Marcus Hudson (released) with return abilities
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.
by SportsChicken on Mar 11, 2010 5:15 PM PST up reply actions
Hudson wasn't released
he just wasn’t offered a tender. I bet he’ll be back in camp to compete for a spot on the roster.
Member of the legendary David Carr thread, 6 March 2010
Either way
special teams guys should be drafted no earlier than 5th round unless they contribute on defense or offense significantly too. Spiller is an exception cause he would play on offense too. Arenas would only be special teams.
Crowded elevators smell different to midgets.
Try again
Whats Berry got That makes him so much more valuable than Thomas?
I haven’t seen much of either one !
Berry is great against the run
While being equally good against the pass.
He can contribute in more ways than Earl Thomas.
His INT return skills are also phenomenal (That’s where the Ed Reed comparisons start)
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Even aside from that, you’ll probably find a lot of SF Giants fans in New York. I mean, they used to play there.
I don't know about that, to the groin.
