Niners Nation ESPN Tournament Challenge

Well, it's that time of the year. The Madness is just about upon us as the major conference tournaments are in full swing (go UNLV!). Given that Selection Sunday is coming up in a couple days, now is as good a time as any to set up our annual bracket contest. Thanks to howtheyscored for his ninja-like paranoia in reminding me.

I set up our bracket contest over at ESPN.com's Tournament Challenge (I'm not sure if you can join the group through that link or not).

The group name is Niners Nation

The password is go49ers.

No word yet on prizes for winners beyond bragging rights and potentially a front page post. I'll put up a reminder Sunday night. Also, mountaindew77 set up a bracket contest for the site if you'd like to do that one as well (LINK).

I’ll be signing up sometime today. ESPN.com decided that I don’t have an account. They also decided that my account name is still active. But they don’t recognize my password or e-mail address. But they sent an e-mail to me at the e-mail account they have on file. Which didn’t go to either of my e-mail accounts. Which means they don’t have my e-mail on file because I haven’t changed e-mail accounts for like five years.

So I’ll be something like howtheyscored617 or how_theyscored.

Sigh….

Yea, that’s true. It’s amazing how wildly different these projections can be. If UNLV can beat BYU tonight and then either New Mexico or SDSU tomorrow for the MWC crown, maybe that’ll get them bumped up to a 7, maaaaybe a 6.

At this point, I can’t even begin to predict. Maybe Va Tech, UTEP? Texas seems to be zig-zagging around, and yesterday’s loss didn’t help.

I don’t usually start watching until the tourny so I’m not full aware of who is doing what. I watched a couple Sooners games and that’s it. I’m the same way with the NBA and NHL… don’t watch until playoffs

I watch a fair amount of college basketball, but mostly focus on UNLV and American University (my alma mater). So I know more about those two than other schools. I actually write on the front page part time at MWCConnection (our Mountain West blog), covering UNLV basketball.

Just for the record...

I am going to have to pull for Big 12 Oklahoma State even though as a Sooner fan I fully dislike them… but it’s better than the alternative of rooting for the ShLonghorn’s. Maybe Kansas? Who knows… either way, I hope the big 12 doesn’t flop.

I'm an ACC guy but since my Tar Heels have no chance of making it in

I’m rooting for any ACC team whose name doesn’t rhyme with Puke. I’d like to see Va Tech do well since that was my old stomping grounds for awhile, I also like Maryland, Greivis Vasquez is pretty nasty. As long as Duke doesn’t make the Final Four I will be happy
