Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

[LIVE] NN COMMUNITY MOCK DRAFT THREAD

Here we are folks... Are you ready to draft? Let's get to it.

Make sure to continue to check the board as Fooch will be updating it.

Here are the rules once again:

  • The first thing that will happen is I will announce the team that is on the clock (ex: THE ST. LOUIS RAMS ARE ON THE CLOCK.
  • Once you see that, you will have 4 min's to make your selection (not 5 this time). After the initial announcement that your team is on the clock, you will need to state "HERE" to let everyone know you are here for you selection. If you make it to the three minute mark without stating that, other participants will be able to start giving their opinions of who to select. The consensus will be taken in to consideration and I will then make the selection for you once the clock hits zero. If you are a participant and it is not your turn, please wait for the 3 minute mark to begin with your suggestions.
  • The format will be the same as last time in that the only thing that will be allowed in the subject lines is your team selection. Everything else please comment on in the text box.
  • This is how your team selection should appear: (ex.) "WITH THE 33RD SELECTION IN THE 2010 DRAFT, THE ST. LOUIS RAMS SELECT EVERSON GRIFFIN (DE) USC.
  • Fooch will be updating the board as he did last time. Please pay attention to the board so we don't double up on picks.

    Explanation:
Sam Bradford was magnificent in 2008, had he declared he would have been the No.1 overall pick.
Unfortunately he suffered two shoulder injuries in 2009. However, if he can overcome those injuries, he’s still the same guy he was in 2008.

The Lions have a far greater need at LT than they do at DE or DT

By picking Okung here they can protect their $70 million investment. They can slide Backus inside to LG and kill two birds with one stone

I think you messed up a fair number of boards by taking okung number 2 instead of taking a DT

by HaloFanInDC on Mar 13, 2010 11:11 AM PST up reply actions

I know, but I think that’s what the Lions will do. They made some pretty impressive fixes to their DL during FA so far

Member of the legendary David Carr thread, 6 March 2010

by smileyman on Mar 13, 2010 11:12 AM PST up reply actions

    Messed up?

OT is a bigger need than DT.
An OT like Okung gives DET a very good OL (since Backus can move to LG).

Remember that the Lions already acquired a DT in FA

had a quick debate since I think McCoy might be a better fit as a 3-technique in Tampa’s defense, but in the end I had to go with the best player on the board (and arguably in the draft)

They need a lot, but it came down to Berry vs Bulaga and I couldn’t pull the trigger on Bulaga.

by TexansDC on Mar 13, 2010 11:16 AM PST up reply actions

Tough choice…particularly since McCoy wouldn’t be very good in the 3-4….i might have been tempted to take JPP here as an OLB/DE rusher

by HaloFanInDC on Mar 13, 2010 11:17 AM PST up reply actions

Yeah they really need help on that Dline

Member of the legendary David Carr thread, 6 March 2010

by smileyman on Mar 13, 2010 11:17 AM PST up reply actions

Yeah, I didn’t even consider McCoy. Someone below me is dancing. JPP is too raw for a top 5 pick. If I were the Chiefs, I would want an impact player as opposed to a project.

Berry’s ready to play now and fills a need.

by TexansDC on Mar 13, 2010 11:18 AM PST up reply actions

I agree….I think Berry is just too good to pass up considering everyone else on the board and the particular needs of the Chiefs

I don’t see that happening in the real draft.

With no Okung or Suh, I didn’t see them going for Bulaga. I feel like they may have traded down for someone who wanted McCoy.

by TexansDC on Mar 13, 2010 11:20 AM PST up reply actions

Or Berry. I think they’d get lots of trading partners if Berry or McCoy were here

With Laverneus Coles and Andre Caldwell as his No.2 and 3?

    He needs more playmakers.

Antionio bryant and ochocinco are fine for the two main guys. they can get another guy in the 2nd or 3rd. no need to spend a 1st on one

    Taylor Mays

If God had intended us not to rosterbate, he would've made our arms shorter.

I would think they would take Mays over Thomas

by smileyman on Mar 13, 2010 12:11 PM PST up reply actions

    Why not?
It would give them an elite secondary.

If they re-sign Roy Williams they can still have their hard hitting safety.
