before i start this post, i want to say im not sold either way based on our 2 picks this afternoon. I understand the issues we encountered across the offensive line last year, but im not sure these picks really addressed the best value available.
Im starting to think either jed york reads these boards, or Singletary does, but i DO understand the commitment to upgrading a terrible offensive line which definitely cost us games last year. however... this was also a blatant draft for need over value.
Iupati is the best guard, Ok, fine, hes the best interior lineman, but i believe he would have been available later, and as for davis... his red flags are everywhere... more importantly if we spend the extra fourth, what kind of value does that give green bay's pick, after waiting to take bulaga.
the value picks were there, and im not really sure how i would have approached it. do you commit to this year (which they did) and give alex one last hurrah? (but can you expect 2 rookies to anchor a line?) or is this just setting up more excuses for quarterback ineptitude due to "rookie mistakes"
im not sold, i think we drafted for need, and even maybe overkill...i hope we can find some sort of gem in the later rounds. any thoughts?
