As many of you know, the 49ers pick up Ted Ginn for a 5th rounder, got WR/PR Kyle Williams in the draft, and (reportedly) signed KR/PR Leroy Vann as a UFA. I would think Ted Ginn would be a lock for our roster seeing as how we gave up a 5th round pick for him, but who knows? Looking at the highlight reels for Vann and Williams would seem to make things a little more interesting. After the jump I've posted a highlight reel of each player, followed by some of their college stats. Unfortunately I couldn't find a video of Kyle Williams returning punts or kicks, but the video below does display his speed, quickness, and strong hands. (Disclaimer, I watch most highlight videos with the sound off, so I can't vouch for the music.)
Personally, I'd like to see both of the rookies make the team over Ginn. From what I've read and seen, Ginn doesn't like to get hit and he tends to run backward as much as forward trying to get a big return. Williams provides a nice speed receiver option, as does Ginn. The one thing that stands out to me about Vann though is his ability not only in returning, but also in blocking kicks. Frankly, I think all three of these guys are stud returners, and I could definitely see the Niners keeping two of them on the 53 man roster (one for punts, one for kick-offs). The question of course, is which two? Vote in the poll at the bottom of the post.
