100 in 100: Jevan Snead (83 of 100)
17 DAYS UNTIL THE DRAFT...
Jevan Snead had a bad case of the ups and downs as far as his collegiate career went. He got the chance to play with other very successful college players but as they left, his game got weaker and weaker. He wasn't exactly the type of quarterback that could carry a team on his shoulders. His accuracy was at his best average but he has a very powerful arm. Losing Michael Oher and Mike Wallace last year did not help matters much for Snead. He was originally a transfer from the University of Texas because he wanted to start, and knew he wouldn't behind Colt McCoy.
Some players come out of college before they're ready. Jevan Snead in my opinion was a guy who could have afforded to stay another year to try and help his stock status out some. At the beginning of the season, he was being projected to have a big year. But those who were making the projections quickly found out that he was not what they were claiming and that his previous success was more attributed to the surrounding cast he had in the years leading up to the last one. However, he did have enough pieces to do better than what he did; Shay Hodge and Dexter McCluster both come to mind in that equation.
Below, we'll look at Snead's highlights, stats, and I'll provide my projection on where I think he'll end up being drafted.
This video highlights some of the good things Snead has done in his career.

SUMMARY AND PROJECTION:
As I alluded to above, I think Snead is leaving college prematurely. I believe he is potentially losing a lot of money and a chance to be one of the top five quarterbacks picked. He threw just as many interceptions as he did touchdowns and proved to be one of those players that gets too much hype. He is no being projected at around the 5th round and in some cases even the 6th. Snead measured at 6'3" and weighed 219 at the combine.
Possibilities -- 5th Round: Picks 132-169, 6th Round: Picks 170-186.

Pass on him
He was over hyped because he was from the SEC. The guy is a 3rd stringer at best.
He was a 1st rounder before the season...
He struggled some, but coming back next year would’ve been terrible because Ole Miss was losing all of its playmakers.
I think this works out better for him. He can afford to sit a year or two learning behind someone and working on things.
Honestly, I like Cleveland for Snead. With Delholmme there for 2 years, I think the pick could be a low risk, high reward kind of thing. If Snead’s making progress (and Holmgren knows how to develop QBs) then they pass on a Locker in 2011. If not, then they have a backup while they grab someone in 2011.
"Lord, beer me strength."
If he stayed for his Senior year he might have been benched
In the Ole Miss bowl game, the Rebels Coaches were reluctant to take out that Stanley kid even though he was just as bad as Snead in that game

Snead
would’ve had higher draft value last year too. He had an awful 2009 with Ole Miss.

Agree on your analysis
If he left Texas to prove he could excel as a starter, he didn’t prove it at Ole Miss. And then to make things worse, he didn’t have all that stellar a combine and didn’t try to improve on it at his pro day. Maybe the fact that he had already graduated played a factor in him leaving early. Why pursue a football career and concentrate on academics as well? He was an honor student, so I don’t think he would have taken school lightly if he stayed. From what I’ve seen about him, I’d say that if Tim Tebow is supposed to be a project at the pro level, Snead will probably be an even bigger project.
