Ray McDonald arrested on suspicion of DUI
Ninjames' Note: I'm sure we'll have more on this when we get some kind of statement from Singletary or the front office.

just plain dumb
if your gonna drink dont get behind the wheel. Now yes i’ve been just plain dumb myself a lot. A DUI would seriously screw me since i have to drive for work. But the key is to not get caught. So since ray got caught its dumb. Have someone else drive

dumb for driving period
Sing is going to ream him a new one. I hope he doesn’t end up in the “Jason Hill” doghouse

has been a very good situational player for the team. Interesting… upsetting, but interesting.

Suspicion of DUI could very well be typical racist cops dragging him in after he passed a breathalyzer
because they felt the below .08 he blew might not have been correct. Cops can run you in on suspicion of DUI with a .01.
Typical cop dirtbags more than likely
Gimme 1 round!
true
he said something like “when this is all over everything will be known” so it could very well be he wasn’t tanked. I shouldn’t have jumped the gun on judging him. Not like me.

Indeed
A friend of mine got pulled over and they arrested him on suspicion of DUI because they thought he was stoned. The cop smelled someone smoking a clove cigarette in the car and said it smelled like weed. My friend got a DUI because he had smoked about 5 days prior and it was still in his system. He got screwed.

"typical racist cops"
You understand that by lumping all cops into your thought like that, you become exactly what you’re criticizing, right?
It doesn't say that in the article

Sure, whatever son.
The huge, HUGE majority of cops aren’t racist. You’re just making yourself look like an idiot.
So if cops are dirtbags, I hope that you don’t call them for help when someone tries to carjack or rob you. Seriously, people like you make me sick. Maybe it’s just because my brother is a cop and puts his life on the line for ignorant, unthankful people like you everday.

Sorry if that sounded harsh.
But when my parents have to worry themselves sick everyday, I myself wondering everyday if my brother is coming home tonight, and an idiot generalizes all cops as dirtbags, I’m going to be more then a little pissed.

Let's not get into this..
…I think he was exaggerating, and yes, it was offensive. I bet you’re very proud of your brother, huh? The fact is that one way or another just about everybody has experienced the good side of police and the bad side. Also note that it is area based, for instance we have some terrible cops here, and I know many of them personally, but I’ve lived in many places where they were all good, and fair, and nice people.
Basically, yeah, that was a bad generalization for him to make and I’d be offended, but let’s not call eachother names and what not.

Lol
I’ll never require a cop to protect my house. Just to clean up and toe tag what’s left of the mess I leave when someone is fool enough to step through the door or window uninvited. Alot of us have REALLY put our life on the line in much riskier situations (cough snipers and IEDs cough) and watch cops carry themselves with a holier than thou attitude while they harass the general populace. The only thing the cops are good for around here is giving me parking tickets in front of my own house if I happen to forget to post my parking pass for a couple hours.

50 bucks...
I live a few blocks south of city college and the residents wanted a pass program to protect parking from the students. But the city will only authorize you 2 passes and I have 3 people that live at my house. So if anybody else is over we have to pack the driveway. I got one the other day cause my bumper was 3 inches onto the sidewalk from my driveway and the *u**s do it at starting at 6 am 7 days a week and will drive around all day. If you forget for a day they’ve got you. Even though its the same s***birds every other day and they can recognize the cars that are in front houses every day. They do it because they can. I can’t agree he looks like an idiot, but maybe used a poor choice of words. I met a guy here in New Mexico that was a former Sheriff in Florida. Extremely cool white guy, that tells tons of stories about he and his black friends. However he did say he profiled the S(site decorum) out of blacks in certain vehicles and certain clothes. I wouldn’t call it racist, but prejudice, as we all are prejudice, some are far more than others. In some states and cities cops are more prejudice or less, it just goes with the territory, that’s life.
Black Sand Ninja!!!
Definitely a better word.
I don’t like the general cop superiority complex but in their off work lives they of course aren’t all hate-mongers against other races. But in the course of their business day they are prejudiced verrrry often.

That hurts the DL rotation...
He’s likely to be suspended by the league for a few games despite what happens on the legal side. Too bad cause I was hoping to see something impressive from him this year.
that's not necessarily true
look what happened to Joey Porter, also accused of “Suspicion of DUI”. Ray said we’d know the whole story later, which could be that he wasn’t drunk but the cops believed he was.

The team still won’t be happy about the negative publicity, but at least it’s not a big name player like Davis.

they released him in 2 hours
745pm he was arrested and 945 released. so he wasnt hammered…
Released under his own recognizance.
Police report said he was going 94 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. Officer smelled alcohol in his car. So he probably just had an open container or was only buzzed. Not much of a punishment for that.

Get rid of him, the Niners haven't had any negative headlines in this regard, make a statement.
I know he helps the team, but negative light is never good, make an example of him.

He was too productive last season for that.
He’s a spot player, but he plays the spot very, very well. Played in all 16 games last season, if I recall.

Right, pick production over character, hopefully none of the young guys do the same thing or any other player, they are gonna have to let it go for them and the next guy.
I’d punish him in practice, suspend him a game, something that shows it won’t be tolerated, even though it is a small issue.
Black Sand Ninja!!!
he got caught
I’m sure there will be consequences. But cutting a good player for a DUI is a little too much. Society values rich people, why do you think they don’t have to pay a relative amount in fines? Some rich dude gets a 350$ speeding ticket and laughs while most of us spend a few days working to pay it off. Yet the supreme court rules scaled punishments as taking away from rich peoples motivations and accomplishments.
I don’t think that at all… and of course this is all speculation on your behalf
by Drew K on Apr 14, 2010 2:05 PM PDT
depends on the punishment
If it ends up just the speeding, and if he’s punished by the league, fine. If not punished by league, team should punish him somehow, and make it public they did.
however if it comes out that all kinda crap was really going on that night…then it’s different.

Too bad
I was kind of hoping he would replace Sopoaga as the starter.
He’s great as a situational pass rusher, but the only reason he’s not a starter is because he hasn’t been able to stay healthy (until last season).
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

Don't say goodbye to him yet
If all he’s convicted of is speeding there won’t be any penalties from the NFL. I don’t know if a breathalyzer was used, but if it wasn’t the drunk driving charges will probably get dropped.
Logic merely enables one to be wrong with authority
and even with a DUI
he’ll probably only get 1 or 2 games of suspension.

Well I don't think he will be cut or anything
But this might turn into a big distraction and could deter him in his efforts to supplant Sopoaga as the starting LDE.

Who doesn't go 95 on the 280
in a luxury sports car? I drive that way 3 times a week and always see sports cars blazing by. 65 is the limit but 80 is the avg.

call me “square” or whatever…but I don’t drive that fast anymore. Fact is, if I got in a wreck for some reason…I’d have to live with the fact I was going FAR faster than I needed to be.

Good point, I guess.
I’ve never driven on that road, but I know that whenever I’m on the freeway I’m usually going around 80 and go up to 95-ish to pass other cars.
It’s not really fast since most of the other cars are also going 70-80.
(speed limit is 65, obviously)

Not at all. On the German auto bahn people consider you in the way if you aren’t going t LEAST 90mph. I go to Germany a bunch and my girlfriend is from the black forest region. She hates slow drivers and says they are dangerous, in Germany.

wasn't exaggerating in the slightest actually
As the guy below me pointed out. Cars in the fast lane on the main intercity autobahns will reach upwards of 150MPH quite regularly.

Sing is going to go off!!!
He will let the team know, bottom line, that bs like this will not be tolerated. Sing is not going to have that kind of behavior, from anybody. Davis or Wills, to a rook sitting on the bubble. Oh no !! Were not having any more of that. You can bet the house on that!

when he got his DUI!
Whoopi doo. Poor judgment and he’ll pay out the nose for it in fines and insurance, but as a player? No way. If it were me and my job tried to penalize me I’d tell them to pound sand. “Conduct unbecoming” or whatever…there’s a line and DUI isn’t crossing it. DUI and killing someone, yes. Beating a woman, yes. Carrying a gun into a nightclub, yes. Raping someone, yes. Having a little too much to drink and then driving home…no. Let the law give the punishment….not the team.
