Niners Nation Sports Bar Search: Where you watching the games?

Fooch's Note 8/29 - We're 3/4 of the way through the preseason games, so it's time to move this back to the front.

Fooch's Note 8/10 - With the first preseason game just a few days away, I thought I'd bring this back to the top of the FanPosts.

Yesterday afternoon I received an email from an individual who runs a sports bar in Margate, Florida called O'Malleys. The individual mentioned possibly using their bar as the officially unofficial home of Niners Nation down there. I honestly don't know how many readers are from that part of the country, so I thought I'd open up a post to find out. I did a quick search and Margate is just north of Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.

I also wanted to open this post as our official sports bar post. We ran something like this a year or two ago and I thought it had some success. Since we're fast approaching the pre-season, I thought it was time we allowed folks to try and connect through NN around the world.

If you have a sports bar you frequent in a given city (even including San Francisco), go ahead and post a comment listing the city and sports bar. If somebody else from the city is interested in that place or has a suggested alternative, I think the best way to organize this is reply directly to the person from your city/region. I think that will make things easier for people to figure out where people are going for 49ers games this fall.

I think it'd be great to be able to have a Niners Nation bar in as many cities as possible. If you have any questions about this, feel free to email me.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

If you're in the Sacramento area

I suggest traveling to Roseville and watching the game at Dan Bunz’s sports bar called Bunz & Company. It’s off of Douglas Boulevard.

Now if you're anywhere between Citrus Heights, Auburn and Lincoln

That sounds like a great place to go. But I would never drive 30 minutes to Brosville to watch the game.

Nice idea but nobody from Sac is gonna drive all the way to Brosville for the game.

A better place for Sac locals would probably be Bisla’s, (which is Cattle Club/Bojangles/The Library/whatever the hell else it was in the past), right off of Sac State on Folsom. New sports bar, went over there for the Lesnar/Carwin UFC. Very tastefully done, decent food, 32 oz craft brews for 7 bucks.

Or potentially R15 with their myriad of screens and $2 PBRs on tap. Hanger 17 would also potentially be a good place to watch the game.

Personally I frequent the Microbrews in town. River City Brewing, Rubicon, Brew It up and all are great places to have a beer and watch games.

Gimme 1 round!

Great idea

Was in Pittsburgh last fall and had a devil of a time trying to find a place to watch Niner games. This fall going to be in Chicago so if there’s anyone out there who knows of a decent place in Chitown to catch a game, the information would be invaluable to me!

I’m pretty anti-social when it comes to watching 49ers games. I like my surroundings to include me, myself and I, that way I can focus on watching the game, analyzing the game and crying without being judged. There’s nothing I hate more than a blow hard that doesn’t know what he’s talking about, but acts like he does. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer on this whole topic, just thought I’d put my two cents in.

Why it’s a great place to watch the games? The Legend’s Sports Bar has a sports book (in regulation with OLG sadly), booths with personal televisions and wall to wall televisions, mostly in HD. Every dollar you spend on food and beverages can you earn you player points which can be redeemed for free hotel rooms, or more food and beverage service (if you sign up for the player’s card).

There is NO slaughter house in Coalinga; that's your breath backing up on you.

Driving passed the Coalinga exit sign on Hwy 5 is not Coalinga. Coalinga is 12 miles from the freeway and over a range of hills, in a separate small valley. But the real question, is why are you so rude? Guy like you seem to need to slam others. You have an intense need for attention and are willing to do anything to get it. You need therapy.

Check out the website. They even have a link to their 49ers Legion of Fans page on Facebook. I was there last year for the game against Minnesota. I have never seen, or heard, 200 people go from a drunken roar to absolute silence when Favre completed that final pass.

Anyway, good times, cheap drinks, female bartenders in Niners gear and a ton of East Coast fans every sunday. This place is a pot of “gold” in NYC on Sundays.

I got my computer so I can snark or cheer at Niners Nation, depending on how the game’s going, and any beer I want, too (as long as I buy it beforehand).

South Side San Jose (Must have cannabis card)

South Bay CRC

yes we are a cannabis club but we have an awesome sports bar thing going on. Can’t smoke in here but hell all you have to do is go around the block with a $10 JOINT or some awesome edibles and the game is that much better =)

I'm currently going to school in LA...

and was wondering if anyone had tried the San Francisco Saloon on Pico, just west of 405? If that’s any good I’m thinking that will be my new hangout for next season’s games.

Heard it's a great place

Haven’t been there personally, but a few buddies in LA keep telling me it’s a lot of fun. Plan on making a trip up this season.

This place is 2 blocks away from my apartment so it’s usually where I go. I have a 4 year old son and kids eat free on Sundays so it works out great, especially when the game starts at 12:00 Central time.

I like Meridian better in Berkeley

2050 University near Milvia

It’s our MNF spot, a little more upclass than Raleighs, good food, interesting beers.

Hey

Same area here.

I’m not looking for a bar though.
I like to watch at home.

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

south bay: CB Hannegan's, Los Gatos

208 Bachman Ave, Los Gatos (downtown, 1/2 blk west of N. Santa Cruz Ave)

not really a sports bar, has only about 6 TVs normally (all flat screens), they’ll put in a few more for big games… I’ve watched 4 of the 49ers 5 Super Bowls there (won $800 there in a pool on SB XXIV).

They have a scotch menu with probably 90+ single malt scotches, probably 15-20 beers on tap, including Guinness and Boddington’s, great wings and a smoked salmon appetizer that’s to die for…. what more could anyone want?

After all was said and done, a lot more got said than done.

If you wanna pay 150$

Why not go to DoubleD’s? Or even the Black Watch?

I don’t think that at all… and of course this is all speculation on your behalf

much more. The TV’s are poorly positioned. You get a pain in your neck from watching them.

Bar in Vancouver?

Hey I just moved to Vancouver, Canada. It is hard to find many Canadian 9ers fans up here, anyone have a good spot to watch the games up here?

vancouver bars

Welcome to BC!

It depends on where you are at. At the corner of Davie/Denman I believe “the calling” public house (or whatever it is called, the black one with the patio) does the NFL ticket. So does the laplighter, the library square, and a few on granville.

I’m out in kits so “the shack” on broadway, and i believe Migs BBQ also does it.

If you get really desperate the Boston Pizza near Broadway/willow also works.

St. Louis suburbs

We go to the Sports Page in Chesterfield. It’s not a Niners bar, in fact, I don’t think there is one in St. Louis. The owners of Page are very nice to my best friend and me, and they condone our yelling/swearing/histrionics. The food is pretty good, too, and they have decent bucket specials.

Also, it’s within stumbling distance from my house, which has served me well over the past few years.

So, if any of you happen to be in St. Louis on a football Sunday, swing by the Page and say hi!

Nashville?

Is there a sports bar in the Music City where Niners fans get together to watch games? I’ve been hitting the Corner Pub in Midtown but it’s usually just me cheering them on.

Underdogs

1824 Irving St., San Francisco, CA 94122

This is a pretty cool place to watch, but you don’t get just one game going. They have a bunch of TV’s playing all the games that are going on at the time. So it’s pretty good for fantasy players. They have good mexican food too, but it’s small and seating is pretty limited, so you’d need to get there early to get a good seat.

any thoughts on a Denver-based Niners bar?

While sitting in my living room searching madly for a free online feed is pretty great, would be nice to go to a place near downtown to root with other bay area transplants.

semi-j/k I would guess somewhere in Buckhead but I thought I talked to somebody that said they were shutting a lot of that bar district down.

Now confirmed... Buckhead at least as far as a bar district shut down.

If you live in the city I’m sure you already knew that. If you just traveled there for business this might have relevancy

When in Crooklyn

The local in BK is Mullanes Bar and Grill in Ft. Greene. I never quite steel up the gumption to get over to Finnertys, and the wife wouldn’t give me leave from fatherly duties that long even if I did. If there’s a particularly big game this year though, with playoffs or some such in the balance, I may have to cash in some serious brownie pts and try it out.

Pacific Standard in Park Slope

..run by two pretty staunch NorCal dudes. Probably worth checking out, though I haven’t been there and Park Slope (well, quite a bit of Brooklyn really) can disappear up its own self-satisfied asshole at times.

That makes me sound like I hate Brooklyn. I don’t, but you probably get my gist.

Washington, DC metro area

In the Washington, DC area, the place to go last year was Porter’s, but it has since closed.

The main reason that it was the 49ers hangout in the District was that there was Meetup group that organized there. It got to 100+ people and used to fill up the second floor of the bar.

I’ve been trying to keep the Meetup momentum going by starting another group.

http://www.meetup.com/DC-Area-49ers/

So far we have 34 people and are growing. If you’re in the greater Washington, DC area, check it out. We plan to watch all the regular season games and, hopefully, the playoffs.
