Ok, so this is a ridiculous thing to do in July, and when the 2007 season opened I was sure the 49ers were gonna surprise a lot of people, BUT! This is my first time posting, I've been a Niners fan my whole life, and:
I am certain this year that we will be going to the playoffs.
I think Vernon Davis will put together consecutive amazing seasons. Gore will too, with fewer injuries, and Anthony Dixon will stand out in limited action.
I think that Alex Smith will be in the top half of the starting Quarterbacks in the league (See? Optimistic, but not un-realistic).
I think that Willis will knock someone out, "Friday" style. I really do. Maybe Mays will too...probably someone on Seattle's Special Teams.
I think our defense will continue to be nasty, that Mays will be starting by seasons end, and that P-Willis will undeniably claim his spot as the BEST ILB in the NFL.
I believe our pass-rush will move into higher gear, Kentwan Balmer will shed the "is he a bust" questions, and that Aubrayo Franklin will show exactly why we should pay the man. I believe you should keep reading...
I believe that Iupati will show that the Williams Wall CAN be manhandled!
I think Michael Crabtree will demonstrate why we drafted him where we did, and put up with his pain-in-the-butt behavior, and Josh Morgan will live up to his potential, which, in the words of Bill Parcells, "potentials means you ain't done !$*! yet").
I see us going 10-6, going 5-1 in division games, and putting a serious hurt on some teams with a talented, Fysical (Singletary!) defense, and an offense that averages almost a touchdown more per game this year. I see our offensive line being a bit better this year, and in perfect position to be great in subsequent years (Thanks FloridaDanny...great series of 'em)
So, who makes it to the dance with the Red and Gold, and how will we fare against them?
The teams left in January will be the Saints, the Vikings, the Packers, the Falcons, the Cowboys, and US!!! I see us stacking up well to Minnesota, Dallas, and Atlanta (revenge is a powerful motivator.) I have to be realistic, and say I don't think we have the horses to get ring #6 this time, but I see us surprising at least one team with a motivated performance, and making it to the second round. I want to predict more, and I want our team to be even better, but if I had to lay actual odds, this is what I'd pick...
So, since the regular season's still more than a month away, what do YOU think? I want the season to hurry the hell up and get here, but in the meantime, this is the best we got...
