Golden Nuggets: Hey cool, links.
Well good morning everyone, Ninjames here. Unlike the last few days, I actually have a decent number of links for you today. We've got some more previews, some roster breakdowns and things relating to the 49ers state of the franchise address. We had a good, full day on Niners Nation yesterday and I hope it continues today. I'm a little bummed out right now after the Giants loss, but ya know, I'll get over it. If this goes up a few minutes late, I apologize for that too, as I'm working rather slowly for reasons I can't comprehend. Big thanks to Brett the 49er, who found a sweet Golden Nuggets picture and posted it in the.. well, Nuggets, that's awesome. If anyone else comes across something like that - do it! I'll uh.. well, I'll thank you. I want to buy some like, Golden Nuggets memorablia. That would rock. Anyway, here's your link.
Maiocco takes a look at the entirety of the 49ers roster with a very good breakdown. Head over and check it out, let's get some discussion going on it. (CSNBayArea.com)
Brit Miller is nipping at Moran Norris' heels. I was watching some footage from last year earlier and I got a lot more pumped for Miller. I will defend Norris still, because I think he's better than people give him credit for, but I really want Brit to make the roster. (SacBee.com)
Here's a special teams preview for training camp from the official website. I'm really interested in who will be the starting punt returner. Does LeRoy Vann stand a chance to make it? (49ers.com)
Barber makes his triumphant return to 49ers blogging by taking a look at players who have something to prove in this upcoming training camp. Forgive me if I think Brandon Jones is so far gone he shouldn't even be on that list. Anyone else get the feeling that Barber writes a lot better after the vacation? Weird. (PressDemocrat.com)
Here's a defensive line assessment from Lynch, but I honestly don't really see where he talks about them that much.. no offense. (SFGate.com)
Barber has a post about Michael Lombardi and his thoughts on the 49ers. (PressDemocrat.com)
The team released WR Jared Perry. I wasn't expecting him to make it over Grant for the PS anyway. (49ers.com)
You can follow the State of the Franchise live on 49ers.com and submit your own questions. (49ers.com)
Yesterday On Niners Nation Kicked off with the Golden Nuggets, I had a confidence post on SS Michael Lewis, another by the Numbers post, we had a post about the preseason being available online, and then another urnext post!
Today On Niners Nation (All times pacific and subject to change. Things like the At Least We're Not and all of that, I like to spread them around. They are listed in the event that I have nothing else to post.)
7:00 a.m. - What's Your Confidence Level In Anthony Davis?
11:00 a.m. - Unsure of right now. If nothing else, probably 'At Least We're Not... The Jacksonville Jaguars'
2:00 p.m. - Also unsure. If nothing else, 'It Has Been Foretold'
6:30 p.m. - Perhaps an open thread for the state of the franchise address?
Yesterday's Best Comment Brett the 49er gets it for his picture in the Nuggets yesterday.

Anybody find it interesting that Maiocco
thinks we will keep two fullbacks?

Well,
Its not keeping two fullbacks really, one is pretty much a full special teamer (unless Norris gets hurt, or is terrible). Like keeping another WR extra so he can be a punt returner. Although I hope Miller plays well in OTA’s and cements himself as the unquestioned FB, thats not a likely scenario. He’ll be a great special teamer.

yeah I sort of get the ST argument
But it would seem to make more sense if your gonna keep 2 full backs ( 1 for ST) that you would want the most out of it. If Miller plays then Norris is dead weight and we’d have to promote a PSer. If we had a more capable FB as our primary FB then he would contribute on ST as well if Miller proved to be the better option.
I guess it comes down to the fact that I feel Norris is a waste of a roster spot.

Didn't Miller play LB in college?
We know how Singletary likes to collect LBs
Logic merely enables one to be wrong with authority
yeah he did
i think you’re on to something

I did find that interesting
But I don’t think it happens. I just can’t imagine them sacrificing a DB, OLinemen or kick returner for a second fullback.
I can't wait for Mango's sig to say "0 days to go".
I agree
I think there are better areas to add depth. I don’t think it would be hard to sign Norris back up off the street if Miller went down.

I want to say Vann has a good chance
His college highlights are nothing short of dazzling, but that’s college, Div I-AA even. If he can pull off not necessarily some TD’s but some exciting returns with us, I think all bets are off between him and Williams. Should be fun to watch!
Can’t believe we have less than 20 days before we see these guys play a game again! I’m so ready!

If he does not do anything else
Vann will have to be spectacular. Otherwise, he’ll lose out in that the incremental improvement in the return game will not outweigh the security of using that roster spot on somebody who can step in successfully on offense or defense.
Trust me, learning english isn’t a waste of time. It is actually sort of useful.

Yeah come to think of it
Unfortunately he appears to be so one-dimensional right now that it would probably take him returning at least one or two for a TD during preseason or some kind of collapse by Williams et al to stick on the team. The preseason can be a crapshoot, I’m glad I’m not making the decision to keep or cut these guys. But we have a decent guy in Kurt Schottenheimer, I trust he’ll make the best choices for the team!

I couldn't cut anybody
I’d be so sad, tears streaming down my pathetic face as I broke the news to each player that his dream of playing in the NFL to provide for his family has been crushed and he has to pack up his (site decorum) and get out of my (site decorum) locker room NOW!!!
