Happy Independence Day Niners Nation
As we plow through the offseason, I wanted to make sure and wish everybody a Happy 4th of July. Whether you're barbecuing, at a ball-game, or just hanging out with friends, the 4th of July is always a fun holiday. If you're not enjoying some good BBQ, I recommend you find a BBQ and enjoy.
If you don't have much else planned this morning, I highly recommend you flip over to ESPN at 9am pacific for the 2010 Nathan's Famous July Fourth International Eating Contest. The three-time defending champion is San Jose native Joey Chestnut. Rumor has it Takero Kobayashi will not be taking part due to a contract dispute with Major League, and yes I'm being dead serious. Whatever the case, let's hope for a fourth straight victory for Chestnut.

If that really is you, I hope you kicked a@$. Sometimes competitive eating is a little hard to watch though. Something about cramming mass quantities of food in one’s mouth that normally should have no room to be there. Most of those guys must be like half conehead! :)
43 days to go. . .

There needs to be a competitive eating SBnation site.

Bay Area
Seeing as Chestnut is a Bay Area native, we made sure to have coverage of the event.

Happy Independence Day to Fooch, Joey, and the rest of my NN brethren
Just wanted to shout out to my friends on Niners Nation. Yes even LondonNiner (mutters, dude we beat you in 1776 and we’re still celebrating it!)
Hope everyone is having an enjoyable 4th no matter what they are doing.
