Fall Back Idea for the O-line

Hi Nation.

I too have high hopes for Davis (and Rachel) and Lupati to start the season and to play great. However, I am thinking what if Davis in particular isn't quite ready by game one, or HEAVEN FORBID, is a bust, or gets injured? Obvioulsy the Niners need a viable alternative, if one exists.

My viable alternative would be putting Sims at LT and switching Staley back to his original position of RT. (As you guys know, Sims is better at LT than RT). If Lupati or Rachel falter I guess we'd plug Bass in there.

Please, let's say SEE YA to Snyder. I really think he blew it so badly last year I've given up on him playing anywhere on the line. (He never impressed me much at guard either.) Bass would be a great back up, and I've always liked Wragge as a back up. He seems solid a lot of the time.

But I digress. The question for you guys is: Do you think if Davis doesn't come through by game 1 that we should have a fall back plan of putting Sims at LT and Staley at RT?(Obviously a big sacrifice and big adjustment for Staley. Should we be working him out a little bit at RT in camp just in case?)

If you don't like that idea, what is YOUR fall back position if Davis needs more time, maybe even one full year, before he's ready to be a starter in this league? Or maybe for some other reason he can't play for 4 or 5 games or more during the season? What would you suggest we do? Obviously the team needs to be prepared for potential scenarios  like this. . . . and I don't want to see our season go down the drain because we don't have a viable alternative in place early on.

Thoughts?
