Golden Nuggets: What? Links?
Good morning everyone, Ninjames here with your Nuggets for the day. With news of the training camps announced yesterday I'm basically salivating for more news. A signing, anything of that nature and I'll be all over it like white on rice. Yesterday we had three links, I think the day before we had three and it seems to be a theme going on. Today I think we're ready to break the three barrier and proceed with four, but I wouldn't want to overload you with all of that news, now would I? I think we actually have a couple good pieces today, so thank your lucky stars. We've got a post looking at wide receivers, I think another look at future opponents and something from the official website - and on top of that some good stuff coming up today on Niners Nation so stick around. Here's your links, enjoy.
Barrows has a post covering some of the lesser known receivers currently with the team. I agree with his assessment that five wide receivers will be kept - but it's important not to buy into those measurables he posts about Scott Long. We'll keep at least one on the practice squad, and to me it's Bakari Grant. (SacBee.com)
A look at some of the upcoming training camp battles from Maiocco. I don't understand why fullback isn't there, since contact is what we've been waiting for to see what we've got in Brit Miller, Moran Norris and Jehuu Caulcrick. (CSNBayArea.com)
How about a breakdown for the Kansas City Chiefs, whom the 49ers will be playing in week three. (Examiner.com)
Sando has his latest mailbag post. He hasn't had anything I've linked to in awhile, but these are always a good read. (ESPN.com)
A spotlight on Frank Gore in fantasy football. Thanks to StereoPete for sending me this link, I'd never been to this site before. (FootballGuys.com)
More fantasy football goodness, with a sleeper spotlight on QB Alex Smith. One can only hope, right? I'll pick him up in the later rounds, but he'll be one of the few 49ers I take. (LestersLegends.com)
I didn't really read this article so apologies if it's not put together well but it's a look at some things that could happen(with over/under scenarios) in the NFC. (NFLGridironGab.com)
Here's a camp diary from Shawntae Spencer. I like this dude a lot. (49ers.com)
Rival Blog Buzz Revenge of the Birds has a post about Kurt Warner and his hall of fame eligibility. Field Gulls has a bit about projecting their Leo defensive end and a season retrospective on Kelly Jennings. At Turf Show Times, they continue to exploit their biggest offseason storyline by looking ahead to next offseason's storyline concerning O.J. Atogwe and whether or not he will be around.
Yesterday On Niners Nation Kicked off with the Golden Nuggets, a post on the CFL on the NFL network, we had a post on elusiveness and whether it can be measured as a stat, and then we had a post looking at NFL Network's top five tight ends.
Today On Niners Nation (All times pacific and subject to change)
7:00 AM - Wouldn't you know it, we here at Niners Nation have got a bit about LeBron James. With a twist! It relates it all to the franchise tag, from Fooch.
11:00 AM - Josh Branco has the next Know Thy Enemy post.
2:00 PM - I'll get a confidence post up here.
Yesterday's Best Comment "Exactly. It would be like giving Patrick Willis a 99 in everything—That would just be unfair." from Smiileyman.

Guys it turns our Kory Sheets actually was our future. Well, not really, but his time in college, he was highly regarded.
And then God created Saturn... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.
Twitter me and what not.
Perspective
He was able to latch on last season first on the 49ers’ practice squad, then the Dolphins’ active roster where he had one carry for five yards.
I think it should be noted that Kory Sheets has a higher career YPC than Frank Gore.
There can be only one.

I bought a pack of football cards yesterday
and I opened it to find a frank Gore card! It was like finding the golden ticket
Scott Long??
What’s you guys opinion on Scott Long, he’s 6-2, 216, 4.46 40, 20 on the bench, 41.5 vertical. Didn’t do great but didn’t do bad at Louisville. Don’t we have a guy on here that goes to Louisville? Be nice to get him on the PS and Kyle on the team and have them as possible up and comers.

I think the reason why he wasn’t drafted was because he didn’t put up any truly notable numbers until his Sr year. Wasn’t a scoring machine at Louisville. Decent speed, looks like he can get behind defenders and turn on a 2nd gear if caught in stride. But I agree that he’d be headed for the PS at best. He’d have to be nothing short of dazzling in camp and preseason to make the team.
38 days to go. . .
I like Long.
But I think Bakari Grant is going to be a better receiver and will make the practice squad over him.

We'll agree to disagree :-)
I’d choose to keep Long over Grant.

Yeah but...
…are you just looking at those measurables and what not, or has he done anything particularly awesome? Like this?
