49ers NT Aubrayo Franklin Meets The Press
Aubrayo Franklin signed his franchise tender offer with the 49ers and took some time to meet the press. If you didn't get a chance to listen to it over at 49ers.com, the folks at CSN Bay Area have posted video of the press conference.
I've posted the video after the jump.

Franklin looks to be in amazing shape
supposedly weighed in at 317lbs

He can help RJF during the year learn the position
(Don’t want to pay to dollar for him after this year.) I think he’ll be excellent this year.
He can help RJF
because RJF needs to start next to Franklin at LDE.

Where do you guys think Franklin ranks...
among NFL nose tackles? I can think of three or four who are clearly a little better than him, but his performance last year suggested he might be top 5, if he can do it again this season. Lots of dudes have one great season; having multiple suggests you are the real deal.
Also, as a good NT is so important to making the 3-4 work, assuming he has another dominant season, might it actually be worth it to pay the man, keep RJF as a backup, and in the meantime as a contender for more and more of Soap’s playing time?

I dont see anyone being better than him besides Jay Ratliff & Haloti Ngata he is in that discussion I know Vince Wilfork of New England gets alot of Pub but I truly think that Aubrayo is a better NT than him
Ngata is by far and away the best NT in the league
Logic merely enables one to be wrong with authority
If that were the case, the Ravens wouldn’t be starting Kelly Gregg at NT and Ngata at RDE.
Ngata is a much better DE in a 3-4 than he is NT. I’m not saying he can’t play NT well, but there’s virtually no equal to him at DE in the 3-4. Put this guy in a 4-3, and he’s the best DT in the league, but as it stands, he’s a 3-4 DE not NT.

and the name..
on top of how good he is… how could you not love a guy who’s name is Aubrayo?
Ngata's position...
I would put Ngata as a better D-Lineman than Aubrayo, even though A.D. is correct, that Gregg is Baltimore’s NT, and Ngata is their DE. No disprespect to Franklin, Ngata is simply immoveable.
I also would put Ratliff above him (pass-rush ability), Wilfork might have a slight edge, and Casey Hampton (Steelers), Kris Jenkins (Jets), and Jamal Williams were all better than him a season or two ago, but due to injury and age, may now be past their primes.
Other than that, I feel he compares with anyone, and with another year like last year, would actually be worth the money he wants. Now, we just need a shutdown corner, and our defense will be lethal.
