2005 San Francisco 49ers: The Greatest Offensive Football Team Ever Assembled
Fooch's Note: It's late in the evening, but I think this is worth a little front page time. Highly entertaining stuff and I might indeed put together a comparison of this year's starting lineup with the 2005 starting lineup next week.
We all remember 2005. Alex Smith's first season. After the jump, we will look at this groundbreaking roster. And to people saying "You already made a FanShot of this", too bad! I filled in more detail!
Here's your 2005 San Francisco 49ers starting offensive roster! Playoffs or bust!
At running back: Starters Kevan Barlow and Maurice Hicks!
At wide receiver, with a lineup rivaling the 2009 New Orleans Saints, we have Brandon Lloyd, Jhonnie Morton, Arnaz Battle, and Jason McAddley! CAN YOU SAY FOUR PRO BOWLERS????
At tight end, we have Billy Bajema!
Your starting offensive line, a foreshadowing to the 2009 New York Jets: Adam Snyder at LT, Justin Smiley at LG, Jeremy Newberry at C, Eric Heitmann at RG, AND Kwame "THE BEAST" Harris at RT!
AND OF COURSE, YOUR STARTING QUARTERBACKS, Tim Rattay, Ken Dorsey, AND YOUR #1 OVERALL DRAFT PICK ALEX SMITH!
Boy, I know that #1 pick quarterbacks generally don't do well their first season, BUT I GOT A GOOD FEELING THIS TEAM WILL BUCK THE TREND! LOOK AT THIS OFFENSIVE FIREPOWER! What do you think, Chris Berman?
BOY YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! THIS IS A GOOD CORE FOR THIS TEAM TO BUILD ON! THIS TEAM IS GOING BACK, BACK, BACK, BACK TO THE PLAYOFFS!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

"All during film, I'm calling him Bam-Bam, like from 'The Flintstones,' because he hits everything. He is the truth" - Chad Ochocinco on Patrick Willis
this was probably the most entertaining thing I’ve seel all day.
After the final cuts, you should post this same list with the starters this year to compare fortunes.

Can't remember, was the defense good?
If I’m correct, I think they transitioned Shawnte into a safety from wr. Or am I just imagining these things?

Study your Playbook Alex
You’re going to need it next year when… oh, nevermind.
Just know, your Coach always has your back…. er- forget that.
Just do your best and remember, there is no pressure being a 49ers QB… uhhhh—
Face it kid, yer screwed.

hmm.
i don’t know if the 2008 lions could have pulled off a second overtime win against the cardinals.

I had managed to block the Johnnie Morton era out of my mind completely… so thanks for that.
It is really good to remember just how far this team has come in the last 5 years. I know we all wish it could’ve happened faster, but really, that is expansion-team bad right there. When you look at it like that, it’s actually kind of impressive that we’ve accumulated all the talent we have on this roster.

I sure miss Ken Dorsey
He Was Our Future Lost!
Don't forget Cortez
He was on the team for a little bit in 2005
What we've got here is a failure to communicate.
"I'm just like you, but 10 times better"
what does Jose Cortez have to do with the offense?
he never scored a point.

Didn't even have to read it
to know the meaning of the word “OFFENSIVE”.
I just want to point out that our 3 interior linemen were the best players from that team and they were actually pretty good.
