Since Alex Smith was chosen with the #1 overall pick, his career has been put under an intense microscope. Every throw scutinized, every interception, micro-anylized from every angle. Every conceivable reason for failure has been put on the table. From injuries, to offensive co-ordinators have been placed at the alter of Saint Smith. Now, the time is right for Alex to put up, or shut up. No more excuses will be tolerated. The injuries are gone. The depth chart has been  whittled down to  insure his ascention. The offensive cogs have been put in place for his success. Everyone from the coach to the Front office have pledged their undying support. There is no more room for excuses.

I realize that there are many on this site who also worship at the alter of Saint Smith. And you have every right to do so. I only hope that many of you realize as well that off all the Saints that have ever been, most of them gained that honor after their death. Pray hard, Alex doesn't join them.
