So after that disappointing, yet somewhat encouraging loss, our beloved 49ers are standing at 0 and 2.  As bad as they played in the 1st game, you can't help but feel a little better about the team after they pulled together and gave the defending champs all that they could handle on Monday Night Football.

There may be questions about our teams playoff chances and the ability to pull out enough wins over these next 14 games to finally get back into the playoffs (where they rightfully belong).  I feel there is definitely a better chance than odds would give us.  Watching the game last night, I noticed they mentioned that teams that go 0-2 to start the season only have a roughly 13% chance of making the playoffs.  Too small a chance you say for our beloved team?  Well after two weeks, there are currently 8 teams that are 0-2.  If you do the math (and believe in such stats as the one I am mentioning), that means only one of those teams will likely make the playoffs (1/8 = 12.5%).

Now let's take a look at these teams: Bills, Browns, Lions, Rams, Panthers, Cowboys, Vikings and the 49ers.  Now I see this list, and I feel pretty darn good about the 49ers being the one team that started 0-2 and still gets into the playoffs.  The first 4 teams will likely be drafting in the top 10 next year, the Panthers are a mess at QB and have to contend with the Saints and Falcons, and the Cowboys and Vikings haven't looked good at all and play in extremely tough and competitive divisions.  So is it that unreasonable to believe we won't be going to the playoffs even after this start?
