Week 2 Prediction Games: Know Your Niners

We had a few understandable questions on the scoring last week and suspect there are still plenty of questions out there.  It's a system that takes some time to conceptualize so I certainly understand the confusion.  I'm working on a succinct write up about scoring however it's not ready for this week's recap.  As always if you have questions or concerns about your score leave a comment below.

With that said lets dive into Week 2 results ...

New Orleans Saints @ San Francisco 49ers

Week 2 Analysis

Although we did a good job predicting the game winners overall were awful at predicting the scores. Here were the trends:

  1. New Orleans Saints @ San Francisco 49ers - Predictions mostly fell into two camps, Saints winning big or the 49ers winning a close, low scoring game. Only an elite few predicted a close Saints victory which turned out to be the difference between this week's best and the rest.
  2. New York Giants @ Indianapolis Colts & Arizona Cardinals @ Atlanta Falcons - Most picked the Colts and almost everyone picked the Falcons to win by a healthy margin. The problem, both games were absolute blowouts. In a strange twist this ended up favoring those who predicted competitive but high scoring games because it got them closer to the actual point total.
  3. Philadelphia Eagles @ Detroit Lions - Lots of picks for Philly but no one predicted a shoot out.
  4. St. Louis Rams @ Oakland Raiders - A money game for most, almost everyone saw this tight, low scoring contest coming.

    The Week's Big 5 Prognosticators

    Andrew Davidson - Yes the guy with a column dispensing gambling advice provides some evidence that he might know what he's talking about. Just a warning, listening to him would have murdered your fantasy team last year.

    Number22Drew - He's quiet, wants a divorce from Alex Smith but was the best performer of the week. Nailed the Rayduhs game, and proved three 2's do make an 11.

    leaping_larry - Where did this guy come from? I suspect insider trading with both the 49ers and Raiders. BTW, Andrew, Drew & Larry all did bubkis Week 1, not a freaking point between the three ... really their luck doesn't deserve our praise. At least it provides hope for you groug ... lolgroug!

    wjackalope - The villain of the prediction contest. Not even going to tell you how he managed 10 points, just know through pure evil. Brett 5-letter-word is tired of his look at me prediction contest antics.

    these3words, whobob, chikmagnet_565 - Really, these3words is 5th again? Hopefully pressing the ignore button again this week will do the trick. chikmagnet_565 had another strong week, expect to see both names at the top of the leader board. whobob, well he's up further on the leader board than me and probably you.

    manraj7 first to comment ... these3words tied for fifth oh whoopie do ... wjerkalope I agree ... 49erLou was 23rd ... howtheyscored despite scoring less points than the Jets made a Rex Ryan championship prediction ... ro128487 thought he could do worse ... smileyman says he sucks ... so does ZeroIndulgence ... snowweasel30 very happy ... jbrown63 9 points alright ... EcERyda69 10th not too bad ... epic lolgroug! (yet more epic lolgroug!!!) ... AKinferno promises not analyze games, use voodoo dolls and always pick the 49ers, a complete fluke ... SaintsFanInIraq with a gracious and humble statement.

The accused know-it-all in the game threads is proving he really does know it all, Mr. rlott#42. DuikeBuike still riding high after that excellent Seahawk prediction. these3words & chikmagnet_565 are nothing but consistent when consistency matters most.
