Trade Deadline Possibilities For 49ers???
The trade deadline is coming up in less than a month, and i am expecting a lot more activity this season because of the uncertainty regarding the labor issues. Some teams may want to unload certain players because of the possibility of the restructuring of the salary cap, this could be beneficial to the 49ers team. Additionally, the 49ers seem to have more depth at certain positions and could look to unload a Heitmann or Lewis. The 49ers also picked up 3 extra 2011 draft picks (4th from San Diego), (6th from Seattle), and (7th from Detroit), that they can utilize if need be.
So lets look at who may be available and for what.
WR- Sammie Stroughter, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
At first look this wouldn't seem like a move the 49ers would make, it did seem they were deep enough at WR, but with injuries to Ginn and Williams the 49ers had to bring the enigma that is Jason Hill back into the mold. Stroughter is currently listed as their #2 WR on ESPN, but could easily be had because of the possible emergence of rookies Mike Williams and Arrelious Benn as well as the addition of Michael Spurlock who has been playing a lot more recently. Stroughter had 31 receptions and a TD in 2009, but has only accumulated 2 catches thus far in 2010. Possible swap of Stroughter for 6th or 7th round pick
FB- Earnest Graham, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Not sure how he would fit into the 49ers scheme, they appear set with Norris starting this season. However, i could easily see them making a move for Graham who had a combined 14 TDs the last two seasons, and could couple with Dixon in short yardage attempts and play a quasi FB role. 6th or 7th round pick
CB- Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland Raiders
This really seems like a match made in heaven! Oakland has been looking to unload Asomugha, who is one of the top 3 corners in the NFL because of his salary, and the 49ers have the room to fit him in. This would be a great deal for the 49ers. Trade CB- Tarell Brown, 4th round in 2011 and conditional in 2012 and bring the shutdown corner to team with Clements and Spencer.
DL- Richard Seymour, Oakland Raiders
There is no question that Seymour isn't happy in Oakland and would like to be moved. He would fit perfectly into the 49ers 3-4 system as an end opposite Smith. His age may be an issue, so i wouldn't give up a whole lot for him. Maybe Soap and a mid round pick. Or Ray McDonald straight up
CB- Eric Wright, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland and Holmgren have been attempting to rid themselves of the players from the previous regime, they did a lot of that in the off-season, and Wright is a holdover. I really like the way he plays, and he could be had for a mid round pick and a player. Maybe Curtis Taylor and a 5th in 2011. Or Tarell Brown straight up
There does seem to be a nice amount of players available that the 49ers could use. Additionally, Eric Heitmann, Michael Lewis, Soap, and Delanie Walker could possibly be moved by the 49ers

Nnamdi Possible?
Not sure if Al would ever let go of Nnamdi, maybe if he dies before the deadline. Talked to a friend who worked for the raiders, he said no possibility.
Nice
Good use of inside knowledge. Don’t get too much of that around here.

A 4th rounder and Tarrell Brown?
Can I get some of that crack youre smoking?
Fun Fact: Jonathan Sanchez threw his first no-no on my 13th birthday.
THIS.
It would take nothing less then a 1st rounder + 3rd rounder or player/2nd rounder/conditional 3rd rounder to get a player like Nnamdi.
Hes a franchise Corner.
Al davis is kicking himself for giving away his first to the Pats, and while we sit at 0-2
Our first rounder “alone” should be inticing enough, especially with the contract he has.

the two Buccaneers have no votes.
sounds like the Buccaneers.
Some people think outside the box. Some people think inside the box. Me? I got kicked out of the box, and they won't let me back in.
You bring up some really interesting ideas!
I would prefer either Asomugha or Wright versus Brown; obviously, Asomugha would be first choice by a mile. But, Wright would be an upgrade if Nnamdi isn’t available.
I would much prefer Graham over Norris … not even close.
And, I would prefer Seymour (even at his age and compensation) to Soapoaga. And, I believe Richard would entertain such a trade because it would give him a better opportunity to get back to the playoffs than with the Raiders.
So far as the wide receiver corp is concerned, I believe that we have some good young talent that will develop — would rather go that direction than acquire an experienced WR (except Vince Jackson, which would never happen).
Unfortunately, I don’t believe that Baalke / Singletary are of a mind to consider any of these alternatives. Obviously before even considering any of these possibilities you would have to decide where you’re going to go with Heitmann and Clements, and maybe even Spikes. IMO Lewis will be gone next year regardless.
I really like the idea of asking “how can we get better faster”!

Lawson
This is random, but since this thread deals w/ personnel moves it might fit: What are the odds we are able to sign Lawson?
He’s looked pretty impressive to me thus far and his coverage abilities for an OLB are first rate. I’m sure the coaches want to see if he can become more of a pass rushing threat and I’m betting there is some concern that if he has a big year this year there might be a let down in the future once he signs a mega-contract. Still, I’d hate to see him walk because his versatility is an important part of the success of the D. I’d love to see him, Willis, and Bowman together for years to come.
It’ll probably come down to his contract demands so hopefully he and his agent don’t have an inflated vision of his worth. In my opinion the odds are about 75% that he leaves because he just seems like one of those athletic OLB that some team will grossly overpay, which sucks for us.

I'd give up a first rounder for Nmadi osamuga or however you spell it.
Your Kung-fu is so-so, i had to laugh at the challenge.
I would too
then I’d be ok with dumping Clements and using his salary next year towards the cost of Nmadi’s

Clement's and 2nd for Nmadi , that way the Money diff isn't that huge ...!!
I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's juz my game ...!!
I agree... maybe no with a 2nd rounder
I think Clements is losing his graces with singletary and defensive regime so this would be ideal. Clements and a 3rd rounder.
Joe and Steve were under the same system for years... don't expect ___?__ to be super so soon. Alex Smith is no longer expected to do much for this team in the future... on to the next one!!
What has Clements done to get on the bad side of Sinletary and Manusky?
other than play solid football?

I'm thinking, trade a first, keep clements and restructure and put Spencer in the Nickel spot.
Clements is too good in run defense. I don’t know if people realize that Clements is a big part of our run defense. I’d let him stay on his side and add Nmadi to the side he plays on. Our DB’s would beinstantly upgraded as his side will not be tested often.

Try to jump routs and get burned on double moves?
That’s his biggest issue imo. He does the same thing that got Bly shown the door.

That was one play, and it was said he used poor technique.
