If the San Francisco 49ers put in a waiver claim for free-agent quarterback Trent Edwards, they will be awarded him, according to league sources.
According to league sources, the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lionsand Carolina Panthers, who all have 0-3 records, have not placed claims on Edwards. Besides the Buffalo Bills, the team that released Edwards, San Francisco is the only other winless club. Given the 49ers' record and the fact no other winless team has put in a claim on Edwards, he would be theirs. The 49ers have been linked to the former third-round pick, who played college ball nearby at Stanford.
At this point in the season, waivers are based off of the records in 2010 thus far, from worst to best in inverse order.
Edwards started the Bills' first two games, but he was replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick, who led the Bills to 30 points in a loss at New England.

Maybe,
It would be worth it if they have to drop that useless FB to provide a roster slot!
I can't see it happening
What will he provide that our other QBs don’t? He’d need to learn the offensive system from scratch, including terminology, and we already have three QBs struggling to do that. Why should we add a fourth?
Well let's see...
Edwards has been injured quite a bit, and when he occasionally does suit up on Sunday he showcases a weak arm and poor decision making skills…
Actually it kinda sounds like he fits all the crtieria to be a starter for us….I need to change my vote!
Giants baseball; It's totally radical inside. Except when it's not.
