So what happens if we beat the saints on monday night football
I just came across the "around the table superbowl predictions". Alot of people are giving the jets and cowgirls the nodd, but other teams like Greenbay Baltimore and, colts are not too far along. The fact of the matter is the saints are the defending champs. Marshall faulk touched on the aggressivness teams come with against the defending champs. Beating the champs early in the season has to do something for a teams confidence. week 2 in the regular season is as good of time as any. If the saints go on to have a terrible season after then our confidence wouldnt regress as the season progress. if we beat the shehawks convincingly then win against the saints in whatever fashion what happens then? do we change our playoff hopes to superbowl hopes? stay humble? what? how does the nation receive us? it will be a nationally televised game. the power rankings. I'm anxious to see what happens. At first I gave the saints the win over us but I changed my mind because I believe their defense isn't built to defend our offense. Our defense is better suited to play them. my only true concern is brees ability to throw a receiver open

that would be the best but what happens with the promising 14-2?
hell I want to know who the two loses come to
We lose a nail-biter to Green Bay at Lambeau
Then we lose to Arizona at home in the last game of the season because we don’t even dress our starters.

Keep in mind,
That the saints have 11 days to prepare for the Niners. Their week 1 game kicks off the season on Thursday night against the Vikings.

Does that matter?
Extra days only help if there are injuries.
Several teams play really poorly after BYEs.

We certainly played horrible after our bye last year
we had our worst game of the year

Wow, 35% think we have a chance at the Superbowl?
Don’t get me wrong, I would LOVE to see it happen. But unless Smith shows himself to be an Elite QB (which I still have trouble even considering), the most I can realistically hope for is Division Champ, w/ Conference championship as a long shot. I don’t think we can make the big game. And I don’t want us to make it there unless we are gonna win it. I like our 100% Super Bowl record.
yea that 35% is based off if we beat the defending champs.
but i i AGREE I want to keep that 5 of 5 going I want to know that if we go to the bowl we will win. But outside of the colts I really feel like we can beat most teams in tha afc. I think we can take the jets. I think were built well enough to beat the ravens. the patriots may be tough. The steelers have fallen off.
we put up a good fight against the colts last season…

If the 9ers beat the Saints on Monday
Then your entire team would be under suspition of kidnapping our entire roster and forcing us to use the practice squad and several members of the high school down the street. :) I know someone will enjoy this post, and a lot of the others will ripp it apart. Have fun.

I know it's just a joke
But you really shouldn’t look down on the 49ers like that.
They’re talented too.

they win 1 super bowl and suddenly they think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread

It is all in fun - NO TROLLING INTENDED
I had the pleasure earlier in the offseason to read a very well thought out and creative story that was posted on here, all in good fun, and extremely outlandish. I loved it, even though it had my Saints losing to your 9ers by some ungodly score. That is mainly what attracted me to this blog. I know that the 9ers have some talent, and definitely a pretty darn good (understatement intended) defense. But in all reality, the 9ers have not played well over the last few years. The QB trouble has been a huge factor in this, and a lack of quality WR’s has also plagued the 9ers. As it stands right now, I see 1 WR that is destined for a knockout year, and a beastly TE that is prepared to win at all costs. A decent line mixed with a great RB also give you a little more credibility, but Smith is still trying to prove he belongs in the NFL, and I think that can be a one way or the other situation. Either the chip on his shoulder excels his performance, or he gets consumed by trying to prove he fits that he makes more mistakes. The musical QB routine last year did nothing to help his confidence and uncertainty still looms. I hope this kid snaps out of it and really shines every week, except for week 2 of course, to really solidify himself as a quality QB. If the line falters on him though, then the matter gets all the more complicated.

It's only one game
Sure some people will start to look at the Niners like they might contend for more than a 9-7 record and the NFC West crown, but it’s a long season. As it stands, we should be able to at least compete with the Saints and that would be enough for me. Before the Saints won the SB, over the last few seasons, they were spanking the Niners on a regular basis. I’m not expecting history to change too much.
I honestly believe it would have a tremendous impact on the season
Guys like Michael Lewis, Nate Clemments, Takeo Spikes, Frank Gore, Westbrook, VD, and Eric Heitman feed off emotion to make themselves better.
A win over the Saints would make a lot of those guys play harder and better over the season.

I should have explained why:
None of those guys have ever made it to the SB and most have never even made it to the playoffs. So beating the defending champs would give them hope.

Wasn't Lewis on the Eagles SB team?
Westbrook was as well. Other than them, maybe Takeo was on that team, but everyone else on the team has never even sniffed the playoffs.

TKO wasn't
Don’t know about Lewis or Westbrook.
I just know those guys are desperate for a SB.
