Wild Stupid Thoughts
Ok I'm sitting here and thinking and listening to the radio and such and having some ideas run thru my head. Seattle has released Housh and Arizona has released Leinart. Are either of them of value to us? What are your thoughts as far as Leinart versus Carr? Yes Carr has been on the team but Leinart does know the division and while he's no Alex Smith, he might be better than Carr. And what about Housh? What do you think about a team with a WR corps of (VD), Crabs, Morgan Ginn, Williams, and Housh? I know NJ I put Ziggy off there but maybe we can keep him on. Then we have a DB corp with Clements, Spencer, Brown, Adams,Brock (maybe for PS), Goldson, Mays, Lewis, Smith, Taylor. Could we put Taylor and/or Brock on PS and bring in Alphonso Smith?
So let's picture a team with a QB Corps of Smith, Carr, Leinart, Davis. And a WR corps of Crabs, Morgan, Housh, Ginn, Williams, Ziggy. And a CB corps of Spencer, Clements, Alphonso, Brown, Adams, Brock.
To do this we have to get rid of (including putting on PS) DE D. Evans (release), Brock (PS) and Taylor (PS).
Based on that what kind of team would that leave us with? How stupid is that?
And more importantly what players that others have let go could be of value to us?
Hope this was actually worth a post. LOL

if you feel like its worth a post its worth a post brother. I would never knock someone for wanting to discuss their thoughts.
I think alphonso smith would be nice to bring in. he could help cover the smaller quicker wr. he’s from the afc which conference unfortunately have more talent at the wr position so he may accel in the nfc. Housh is gettin up in age i’d much rather have ziggy. housyamama comes with a steep price tag. heck no for leinart id rather have pat white come in.
Leinart won't be happy in a #2 role
Ever. I think that’s why he was cut in favor of Max Hall.
I also don’t think Housh would be happy as a number 2WR

Guess you were wrong...
Leinart is the No.2 in Houston and TJ is the No.3 in Baltimore

I say no to Leinart, for reasons that are easy to explain: he blows and he’s a girl. Let him move on to another division, or the Seahawks, the 49ers don’t need him (even though I hope David Carr’s only action is taking a knee).
Not a fan of Houshmandzadeh, never really have been. He should go back to Cincy where he belongs, because no true number one WR. I could at least tolerate the guy when he played with Ochocinco. Housh needs a hair cut, a new attitude and some speed. If Mike Williams takes your starting job, there’s a problem.
I’m actually quite content with the Niners DBs heading into Week 1, so I’m not sure if adding Smith is necessary. I suppose it can’t hurt, but in Singletary I trust; and in Philip Adams I am hopeful. The one thing I don’t want to see happen? Vincent Jackson ending up on the St. Louis Rams.

Seattle is to pick up most of the cost.....
of T.J.s contract for thos year. Wherever he goes, it’ll be a 1 year deal for the minimum, with hopes a labor agreement can be reached and a fat retirement contract.
Not saying we should get him, but he’d be a better fit than Leinart. Matt Leinart is gonna catch on with some QB deprived team that will try to catch lightening in a bottle. (like the Panthers, maybe)

thanks for the comments..
Ok now let’s look at it from a few perspectives. ANd more just finidng it interesting above anything.
The perspective that Smiley gave on Leinart was one that was probably given on Carr for a long timre. Moving down a peg is not easy. It’s kinda like the girl that says “Well can we just be friends?” But take a perspective of Carr or Leinart. Carr has been knocked down by most of the league. Leinart has been knocked down mostly by himself. He’s got “I’m too good syndrome” I just think it would be interesting to have him on the team. But he is a hot commodity. Housh has a big price tag possibly. But I would disagree as far as him not wanting to be a #2. He was #2 at Cincy and when he was brought on to the SeaChickadees he was considered to be a #2.
Now to the Phonz. We are a bit shy at CB and he could be a nice addition.

Phonz would be nice
but he got traded to Detroit.
I’m ok with the receivers we have. At some point you have to do a cost/benefit analysis.
Crabs is obviously the number one guy. Josh Morgan is probably the number 2 WR.
Last year Morgan had 52 receptions for 527 yards. He’s due to make $410,000 this year.
Houshmandzadeh had 79 receptions for 911 yards. He’s due $7 million this year from the Seachickens and will probably want a multi-year deal for $2-3 million per.
So, is less than twice the production worth four to five times the salary and three times the headache?

According to ESPN...
Smith just got traded to the Lions for TE Gronkowski (2009 7th Rounder).

Wait which Gronkowski?
Didn’t they pick up a TE in 2008 or 9 and trade for one in 2010? THE Gronkowski went to NE right?

The other Gronkowski, not the one that got drafted by New England obviously. I think the one from the Lions was Dan (unless that’s the one that the Pats drafted). The Lions drafted Pettigrew in the first round in 2009, and traded for Scheffler this offseason. Alphonso Smith for Dan Gronkowski is a freakin’ steal for the Leos.

Scheffler! Thanks that's the one
Yes I think the “older” Gronkowski was actually listed as a FB.

Alphonso Smith isn't really that good
But Gronk is not very good either.
Josh McDaniels wasted that 1st round pick.
