49ers Coach Mike Singletary Press Conference

49ers head coach Mike Singletary is conducting a press conference at noon. CSN Bay Area is streaming it live. I've posted the embedded stream after the jump, but you can also view it here.

Fooch's Update: The press conference is over but I'm not seeing a current stream at the CSN 49ers page. It'll be up at some point so if you do see it at some point, post a link if I haven't. In the meantime, I'd say feel free to use this thread for your own random musings.

So have any of you ever had cashew butter? It’s like peanut butter, but made with cashews. I didn’t know that existed. Saw it for the first time the other day and was tempted to buy some, but it’s pretty expensive. I love cashews, though I figure it might be a little too rich. Any thoughts on that?

Hmm that does sound pretty delicious....

have you had Nutella? It is a chocolate/Hazelnut spread, very yummy

by sanfranfanmdk on Sep 6, 2010 1:04 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, I've had nutella.

I always avoided it because the container made it look like it was cheap and awful, but I had it once and it was basically awesome.

Nutella to me

is what would happen if cake frosting worked as a sandwich spread. A pleasant yum.

cashews are always so darn expensive, never tried the butter, but it’s not surprising it’s expensive. What makes cashews so damn expensive anyway?

by Andrew Davidson on Sep 6, 2010 1:04 PM PDT up reply actions

I don’t know, man. But I think I might buy some tonight. I’m thinking a 7 a.m. front page post about it, what do you think?

not sure, it might upset those that want to read more about peanut butter, or surpass Michael Robinson as this offseason’s top story. :P

But I can include a poll!

This is a MUST! I didn’t know it existed until I was watching Chopped on Food Network a couple of weeks ago. I love cashews and I would love to know how cashew butter tastes.

I may or may not get some tonight and if I end up doing so, I will include a bit about it in the Nuggets just for you.

I think they grow inside a fruit type dealio

that is much larger than the cashew…and that has to be harvested, then split, then the cashews come out and are dried and roasted…so it’s basically they don’t grow very many per plant and thus per acre the yield is less…more land cost, labor, etc. to produce them…

The NFC West is sitting on a pedestal if only the 49ers don't trip and fall on their way to it.

Cashew butter!

Are you nuts????

Sorry about that but I couldn’t resist.

Andrew: Cashews are so expensive because they cure morning periods. [just messing with ya].

There’s also almond butter.

I am so intrigued. Almonds are delicious. I imagine the butter wouldn’t be anything like peanut butter or cashew butter, though.

There’s even apple butter. I was disappointed to find that butter was not part of the ingredients.

Lies

Almond Butter is good. I eat a little with an apple most days, it tastes good. It’s a lot different of a consistency compared to peanut butter, though.

Almond butter

Mexican cookery uses almond puree (no added oil) as a thickening agent for sauces, and that tastes great. With sugar added it is Marzipan, a staple of Austrian baking. Almonds are good, and extremely nutritious (also lower bad cholesterol levels in blood).

Enjoy!

If you eat...

An extreme amount of cashew butter over a week-long period, you can get a poison oak/ivy like rash. No joke.

I ate 4 jars of the stuff in a week because it was on sale for once and holy hell did I pay the price. Apparently cashews are a member of the same family as poison oak/ivy and can sometimes cause similar allergic reactions in some people. I happen to be one of those lucky individuals, fml.

So, if you binge…binge carefully. That being said, cashew butter is delicious.

I absolutely love ...

… that I can find this kind of information on Niners Nation. This place rocks. Cautionary information on cashew butter? Heck yes.

Just saw the Press Conference

I liked what he said about the players, Adams, Brock, Iupati and Davis. I like that the team is younger. They want to win.
