Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Anthony Dixon (The Workhorse)

What's up fellow 49ers. I don't make too many posts, but when I do it's relative. Today I wanna know your thoughts on RB Anthony Dixon. I been scouting this man since last year as a possible addition to our thin backfield. This man is an absolute problem in the backfield. I can visualize him eventually being our starter when Frank Gore decides it's a wrap. In fact, Dixon's style is simular to gore. He's a lot more durable, and menacing though. No disrespect to Frank, because Frank is the truth. However, this new guy has something to offer. I like him, and Frank as the Dynamic Duo. Maybe the best tandem in the league. The only other tandem I would mention in the same breath would be Ray Rice/Willis McGahee, Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams, and maybe LT/Shon Greene if LT has found the fountain of youth....CHECK OUT THIS HIGHLIGHT COMPILATION AFTER THE JUMP THAT I PERSONALLY PUT TOGETHER...IT'S CRAAAAAZY!!!! Let me know your thoughts about this guy...Aight,..till next time Peace

Great Video, BUT

Awful music: Rap is always painful and the profanity is disgusting.

I watch this and what I see...

is some awsome blocking on the line and downfield. Now THAT excites me. Takin nothing away from Dixon, the man’s got it, I’m just saying, those holes that open up on some of those runs are mighty fine to look at.

"If you move, I'll knock the hell out of you. I'm going to throw the ball as hard as I can, right at you. The only way you won't get hit is if you catch it. Understand?" my dad, teaching me to catch a baseball.

I like Dixon a lot more

but throwing Westbrook in makes the defense shift in what they have to do.

theres nothing wrong with rap music stelf bombz you could have probably picked a better rap song though.

and yea dixon may be a nice person to have take gore’s spot eventually but Im not looking forward to it I hate when people write players off. I still think LT has it. and gore will have it for years to come I’d love to see him retire as a 9er

Kid's stiff arm is sick!

Especially on the touchdown vs. the Colts, the defender looks like he ran into a low hanging oak branch. That’s just embarassing

Hey, remember that one time when we were arguing and I was wrong? Yeah, me either.

He isn't much like Gore

He is awesome to watch. He is very quick and makes people miss. Gore is more of a power runner. He always has his shoulders square with the endzone, but he moves just enough to make people miss. Dixon seems to mix styles. At first contact, he is more like a finesse runner. Tries to juke people, make them miss. Once he turns downfield, he tries to punish people for trying to tackle them. That Colts player stiff arm will likely make commercials, and the way he launches his shoulder into the oncoming guy, has got to scare the crap out of secondary folks who are afraid to tackle.

I am glad the position finally has depth, but I am not sure if I would put him across from Gore yet, I like Westbrook there for now. If Westbrook disappoints, we will see. But I like the idea of Dixon playing when Robinson would have.

the man's hard to bring down

I want to see some 2 back sets.

let's see the kid play in the regular season

we all thought Coffee was a stud after the preseason last year, and look where that turned out. I think Dixon is gonna be a quality player, but I’m not buying his jersey just yet.

If you don't like Brandon Medders you're not a true fan.

Mr.

Coffee didn’t look like this though. This dude is bustin’ Adrian Peterson like skills out there on the scrubs.

Dixon

The kid’s serious. I don’t know that they’ll turn it over to him specifically once Frank hangs it up, but I have no problem with him as part of a tandem. I’m not quite as high on him as most people are, but he’s certainly a welcome addition to the team.

As for best tandems in the league, it’s got to be Carolina. Can’t beat two 1,000+ yard backs.

important note

LT is was and always will be Lawrance Taylor. Not that bloated ego people have been calling LT lately.

Do?

You mean the underage minor hooker proposing LT that they were talking about on the news? Which one? Because they were talking about both.

or

the one they keep saying is over the hill but still rushed for 12 tds last season.

In like 30 opportunities

His conversion % was terrible

What we've got here is a failure to communicate.

I'd much rather have Westbrook

He’s great in pass protection, he’s our fastest RB, and he’s proven.

Another thing I'd like to add

is that Dixon is durable, and has good ball security skills. He’s also sneaky elusive too. His hands are good for a RB, and he is a dangerous blocker. His field vision is great too. I vote for him to be in the mix early this season. Westbrook is what makes us a three headed monster baring injury. Dixon’s highlight speak volumes. Peace…Seahawks die Sunday.

by STELF BOMBZ on Sep 9, 2010 2:53 PM PDT reply actions

I voted Westbrook based on the fact that he has been so dominate in the NFL against NFL starters.

Dixon has a great upside, but really, I would like to see both reserves get some action depending on the situation.
