Golden Nuggets: Happy New Year

Good morning everyone, and happy new year. We've had another successful year here on Niners Nation and the Golden Nuggets, but not such a good year for our San Francisco 49ers. Still, I feel good about things with the site and with SB Nation Bay Area, and I look forward to another one with all of you. It's a thankless task at times, putting together the links, so when I do get some kind of thanks in the comments, it makes me feel pretty great. No, I'm not soliciting compliments, but a donation would be nice ... kidding, of course. I'm sure we have some pertinent links for you today, but I don't really know what we've got. I didn't think about the 49ers much yesterday, which is probably a bad thing, but I'm going to start freaking out today. Going to be in the pressbox for the game tomorrow and I'm going to do everything I can to not make an ass out of myself. I'll be live-blogging the game at SB Nation Bay Area and writing a feature about it all, so there's that. Anyway, onward to links. Enjoy.

Here's a bit on Jim Tomsula. I really like the guy, I think he's a great position coach, perhaps eventualy a good coordinator. I bet some poor soul on here will want him as the head coach next year. I guarantee it in fact, sombody will say it. (MercuryNews.com)

A look at some of the quarterbacks that could be available when the 49ers pick in the draft. (SacBee.com)

Brian Billick is gaining steam as a head coaching candidate for the 49ers. What bothers me the most is the fact that this GM search is not really ... happening as it appears to be. I'm not as cynical as I might suggest, but I believe we were informed that no head coaching search would go on until a GM Was brought in. Why are there candidates? (NFL.com)

Patrick Willis is urging the team to re-sign Takeo Spikes. Good. (SacBee.com)

Today, Trent Baalke will have a meeting with Jed York. Consider it the official interview to be conducted after the running interview since the 2010 draft. (CSNBayArea.com)
