Good morning folks. We've arrived at the last game of the 49ers season. No playoffs for us this season, but it's a new year, and I hope to be writing a different sounding week seventeen preview next season. I hope that there will not be a lockout and the 49ers will have their division under wraps. I hope I'll be sitting here telling you how Andrew Luck (hah) will be resting and the 49ers will likely be entirely playing backups by the half. That would be great.
As it stands though, we've got one last game and it's essentially meaningless. The 49ers are insisting that they are going to play to win this game (thanks, Mora) and I'm betting they mean it. Jim Tomsula wants to prove he deserves to stay with the organization and players are just .. going to do what they're told. I'll be in the press box for this game, and I'll be providing the recap here at NN and at SBNBA, so let's hope for a good game at the very least. As usual with gamedays, not a whole lot today. Enjoy.
This should be a good game, the 49ers and Cardinals usually combine for some good matchups, even when they don't really matter when it all comes down to it. Here's a preview from Sam Lam. (Examiner.com)
Jim Tomsula brings a refreshing change of atmosphere. I like this guy a lot, I've said that for awhile now. Now, I'm not going to rush out to get him hired as the next head coach, but I certainly would love to keep him coaching the defensive line. (SacBee.com)
There were some questions answered this season, that's for sure. Unfortunately, in great 49ers tradition, there are now many, many more of them. (MercuryNews.com)
Eddie D told Jed York to trust his gut when it comes to making a hire. I'm sorry, but Eddie doesn't need to be giving Jed some grandfatherly "learn through experience," advice at this point in his executive career. (ProFootballTalk.com)
Jed York is examining both the past and the present in his attempt to rebuild the San Francisco 49ers. (NFL.com)
Stanford Head Coach Jim Harbaugh is the 49ers plan 'A', at least according to some sources. I think he's a fitting plan 'A'. (SFGate.com)
It will be the head coach hire that shapes the 49ers in 2011, not the general manager hire, especially if that hire is Trent Baalke. (CSNBayArea.com)
