The final four of the 2011 NFL Playoffs schedule goes down this Sunday as the Pittsburgh Steelers host the New York Jets and the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers. Yesterday we had some discussion about the Jets and why they might be worth rooting for (or at least why I thought they might be worth supporting). In writing that post I forgot one truly key component to all this: a 49ers draft pick!
In the 2011 NFL Draft, the 49ers own two 7th round draft choices courtesy of a trade with Detroit. When the 49ers sent Shaun Hill to the Lions they received one of the Lions seventh round draft choice this year. The pick they received was originally owned by the New York Jets, so the position of the pick has not yet been set. At this point the Jets will end up with one of the final four picks of each round (not including compensatory selections). Given that, if you want a few more draft points for your pick, you'd be rooting for the Jets to lose to the Steelers.
After the jump I thought I'd post the final four seventh round picks (before compensatory picks) from the last four drafts. It's not exactly predictive of future picks, but I thought it would be fun to at least see who was going that late in the draft.
