Gooood morning folks. Yesterday, we had some confirmations regarding the coaching staff, and I have to say I'm pretty stoked. We got the hottest head coaching candidate out there, he brought a man who we know to be a great offensive mind with him for his offensive coordinator, and in the past couple days we were able to bring in one of the league's premier special teams coordinators without much fuss. To me, that latter hiring is huge and I think he can do great things here. I was not found of our previous special teams coordinator, to say the least. Our defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, can be hit-or-miss, but he's definitely got a great defensive mind. I like the position coaches who have come in. All-in-all, I'm just very happy right now with this staff. Let's hope it translates to winning some football games. Apologies for the lateness on the Nuggets today, folks.
Jim Harbaugh is taking a clean slate approach - every single player and coach will be evaluated going forward, including Alex Smith. I don't know how I feel about Alex, really ... if Harbaugh wants to keep him, how can I argue with that? It wouldn't excite me, that's for sure. (SacBee.com)
More on all of that - some notes regarding the meeting Harbaugh had with reporters. Lots of Alex Smith talk. (PressDemocrat.com)
If, for some reason, you didn't read it in the above two links: the 49ers are keeping Tom Rathman, Jim Tomsula, Ray Brown and Mike Solari. They've also brought in a quality control coach. (49ers.com)
If you didn't hear, Brad Seely has been hired as the special teams coordinator. Probably my favorite hiring of the offseason thus far. (SFGate.com)
The 49ers definitely need to get themselves a pass-rushing outside linebacker. I like Manny Lawson a lot and hope we can retain his services, but there needs to be a pass rusher added. (PressDemocrat.com)
More so, the Niners need a cornerback. They need another Devin McCourty ... if only. He's a guy I targeted early on last year, I would have loved it if the 49ers were able to pick him. (SacBee.com)

I gotta say, I'm impressed with the content our Rams blog has been putting forward lately - I felt they were the most underdeveloped of the NFC West blogs, but now they've definitely leap-frogged Revenge of the Bird and Field Gulls in that sense. I also love John Morgan's sense of entitlement when it comes to sponsored posts over at our Seahawks blog, they're pretty hilarious to read. Not much going on in the NFC West, as you you can see. I have to say, Marc Bulger going to Arizona would be funny to see, and totally OK by me.
