Golden Nuggets: Senior Bowl And Not Much Else

Stay connected for news and updates

Good morning, folks, not too much going on in 49erland today, but with the Senior Bowl and the Pro Bowl coming up, there should be plenty to watch and keep an eye on. It sounds like the 49ers are doing what they need to be doing while down there, paying attention to the things they need to be paying attention to. I like that they interviewed a kicker, I consider it a pretty big need at the moment. Jeff Reed was fired for a reason, and his season with San Francisco was nothing more than a clutch performance in my mind. He leaves much to be desired on kickoffs and I think if we are in a position to take this kicker at a reasonable spot in the draft, we should do it. That's just my $.02 regarding the situation. Now back to Australian Open for me, this is a great match so far. Enjoy the links.

Greg Manusky had some nice things to say about safety Taylor Mays. I think Mays will turn out to be a very solid starter, my bigger problem is with Dashon Goldson. (SacBee.com)

Cal defensive lineman Cameron Jordan is about as big a beast as they come. I could see the 49ers being interested in him at defensive end. I also really like Owen Marecc and hope the 49ers can get him with a mid-round pick. (CSNBayArea.com)

The roster will likely remain mostly intact going into the 2011 season. There's a lot of pieces here, they just need to be utilized correctly. (SacBee.com)

Not only do the 49ers need to get themselves a quarterback, they also need to get after opposing quarterbacks. They really can't do that right now. (SFGate.com)

Trent Baalke believes Jim Harbaugh's first quarterback project was ... himself. Prepare to enter ... the scary door. (PressDemocrat.com)

We can sit and think about McCarthy or Nolan and Rodgers or Smith all we want to, but it won't change anything. I wasn't aware Kiper actually said it would be different, further cementing my belief that he's a giant idiot. (MercuryNews.com)

What are the 49ers coaches missing by not being at the Senior Bowl? The short answer: nothing. (CSNBayArea.com)
