Our 2011 NFL Mock Draft Database is officially online! Check it out when you get a minute.
As we wait for the Senior Bowl to kickoff at 1pm pacific, I've been thinking that it's just about time for the 2011 edition of our annual mock draft database. The database first popped up in 2009 and continued last year. In the past I've started the database a bit earlier in the offseason, but I'm thinking Monday will be as good a time as any to start this database. Adjustments will have been made for Senior Bowl practice week and the game, which means we'll have the major All Star game adjustments in place.
Last year we had 30 sites listed in our database and I'm thinking we'll do the same thing for this year. The database will initially be updated each week and then as we move closer and closer to the draft I'll update it a bit more frequently. I'll play that by ear depending on how quickly various sites are providing updates. Additionally, rather than just update the page, I'm also going to provide front page posts when we update the database. As it currently stands, if you check out the 2010 page all you see is the last update leading up to the draft. There's no sense of how the mock drafts developed over the NFL Draft season. Accordingly, as I update the database I'll post the results in a post in a new section called NFL Mock Drafts so you can track how things develop over the course of the next couple months.
As to the sites we use, the primary reason for this post was to open the floor for suggestions of mock drafts you particularly like. I use a mix of prominent sites (ESPN, CBS Sports, etc) combined with random sites I find at other mock draft databases. There's nothing particularly scientific about our process but I would like to try and get 30 sites that are all fairly legit and well thought out. As you look through last year's database, are there some we should dump at this point? I'll consider any and all suggestions you might have.
