NFL Wildcard Playoff Round Prediction Games

It's now playoff time. The first games are Saturday so make sure and get your picks in. If you choose to just pick Saturdays for now PLEASE reply to your own picks to add in your Saturday picks. It'll operate much like when the 49ers had their Thursday game. After the jump I've instead posted bignerd's playoff tournament rules followed by the formatting rules. We have two tournaments, one for the playoff qualifiers listed in HERE, and a second one that's open to everybody. Here are your weekend playoff games (all times PACIFIC):

Saturday

New Orleans @ Seattle - Saturday 1/8 1:30pm

NY Jets @ Indianapolis - Saturday 1/8 5:00pm

Sunday

Baltimore @ Kansas City - Sunday 1/9 10:00am

Green Bay @ Philadelphia - Sunday 1/2 1:30pm

Playoff Tournament:

1. All playoff qualifiers compete in a exclusive contestant pool against each other.
2. Each week is an independent contest to determine top qualifiers to move onto the next round.
2i) All remaining qualifiers begin the week with a score of zero (0).  Previous week's scores aren't carried over.
2ii) Only the top scorers move onto the next week:
a) Wild Card Weekend - Top 12 Advance
b) Divisional Weekend - Top 8 Advance
c) Championship Weekend - Top 4 Advance
d) Super Bowl - Top Scorer of remaining qualifiers Wins.
3. The scoring system will be the same as the regular season. Pick the correct winner and points will be awarded based on how close the predicted score is to the actual score.
3i) Perfect predictions are awarded 10 points. If the highest subscore for a particular game is not a perfect prediction, it is awarded 5 points. Points then follow in descending order, so that all of the second best predictions get 4 points, the third best all get 3 points, and so on.
3ii) Scores only compared against active/remaining playoff contestants.
3ii) Tie scores for the final advancement spot will move onto the next round with the exception of scoring a zero (0) for the week.

Note: If you still aren't understanding the rules than don't worry.  Just play the game like you did in the regular season submitting your predictions in the comment section.  You don't need to specify if you are playoff qualifier, we know who you are.  Of course if you have questions ask in the comment section and I will attempt to explain.

Bignerd Invitational Tournament (BIT):

1. Open to all who wish to play that are not in the Playoff Tournament.
2. Predict the correct winner and score of each playoff game.  Scores will be awarded and posted on a weekly basis and accumulated throughout the NFL post season.  Highest total accumulated score at the conclusion of the Super Bowl wins.
3ii) Scores only compared against all BIT contestants

Note: If you still aren't understanding the rules than don't worry.  Just play the game like you did in the regular season submitting your predictions in the comment section. Of course if you have questions ask in the comment section and I will attempt to explain.

IMPORTANT RULE
We implemented this rule last season and it seemed to make things easier for us. Previously, folks had just posted their scores in any particular fashion, although howtheyscored had made requests for a specific format.  Given the amount of time and effort howtheyscored has to put into determining the final results, I am implementing a requirement for how to format your scores (based on the spreadsheet howtheyscored has created).  If you fail to follow this format, any incorrectly formatted scores for the week will be disqualified.  The format is "Team A @ Team B: A score - B score."  That basically is visitor @ home: visitor score - home score."  Here's an example of how to do it:

Using Baltimore @ Kansas City below, if you think Kansas City will win 24-14, here's how it needs to appear:

Baltimore @ Kansas City: 14 - 24

If you think Baltimore will win 24-14, it needs to appear as this:

Baltimore @ Kansas City: 24 - 14

If you'd like you can bold the winner (Baltimore @ Kansas City: 14 - 24), but that is not required (although probably a good backup in case you reversed the score by accident.

If you make a mistake in the formatting I'll reply to your score reminding you to correct it.  To correct it, simply reply to your picks and post them in the correct format.  Do not post your scores again at the bottom of the thread.  I'll make sure and include these directions each week so people do not forgot and lose out on points.

If anybody has any questions at all about this, or anything related to the contest, let me know (ninersnation@gmail.com) and I'll answer them.
