Now that the Miami Dolphins have apparently realized they can't completely rich-slap Jim Harbaugh into taking his talents to South Beach, we seem to be settling in for the main event. John Elway and the Denver Broncos seem to think they can swing into this but for now this seems to be boiling down to Jed York and the 49ers versus Stanford in a South Bay Showdown. I reserve the right to move Denver back into this tomorrow.
We've got the York money versus the Stanford endowment. We've got so many stories bouncing back and forth that it's absolutely ridiculous. Jay Glazer has joined in the tweeting tonight stating first that there was a strong signal from SF that a deal would get done for around $6M tonight. 15 minutes later Jay tweeted that he heard Stanford upped their offer considerably. Now he's apparently given up tweeting about the story until it concludes. What's amazing is that was all the space of less than an hour! For a guy who's all about MMA that's some weak sauce to tap out so quickly. He wouldn't last five minutes on Niners Nation!
Since Glazer's tweets, John Clayton has been on ESPN indicating Harbaugh had turned down $5.2M from Michigan, that Stanford had offered above $5M and the 49ers above $6M. Of course that runs contrary to the report that Stanford was offering more than the 49ers. Unless that previous report was based on the 49ers $4.5M figure. If you're head is not swimming at this point, well you either haven't been paying attention, or you're built to last. Either way, I think this Cypress Hill song covers it. As always, no GIFs and site decorum is ON. As for pictures, try and avoid posting too many big ones to keep things running as smoothly as possible amidst these turbulent times.
