Terrell Owens work out today 2pm ET
I heard all the negative T.O. press. I would like to put a positive twist to the former San Fransisco 49ers great/future Hall of Famers career. I would love to see him join our squad, an assist us in hoisting the ever evasive Lombardi trophy.
Why not end your career, and make good on your karma after chasing a Super Bowl win for over a decade. Terrell Owens if healthy, would be exactly what we need. A veteran 6'3" 225 lb physical run blocking, endzone hog of a widout.
I believe T.O. would have great chemistry with our team, especially with Coach Harbaugh, and Vernon Davis. Their work ethic would be pushed to even greater heights. Again I ask, why not? Look at this line up
QB Alex Smith
FB BruceMiller
WR Michael Crabtree/ Kyle Williams
WR Braylon Edwards/Terrell Owens
TE Vernon Edwards/Delainie Walker
I am wtching T.O. work out now. He looks great. We would be stupid to not snatch him up A.S.A.P. Josh Morgan IR, Braylon Edwards hopeful in week 8. T.O. would immediately pay dividends, and assist the west coast offense. T.O. could help us win a Super Bowl NOW!. Signhim for a one year incemtive laden deal. LETS GO! Here are T.O.'s 2010 highlights. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLJhG_0OtAc

I must say,
A tandem of a young and healthy TO along with Braylon Edwards sounds pretty good. Unfortunately TO isn’t young and the debate is still out there on whether he is healthy enough or not. He’s just too old at this point for a young 49er team to bring into the locker room. He’s best served as a #2 or #3 option at this point. Although if signing TO means cutting Moran Norris….. I’d sign that petition every day. The size of TO and Braylon out there could be amazing though.

YEAH BUDDY!
T.O. wouldn’t have to be young T.O. , but merely another underneath, and redzone option for our offense. T.O. Braylon, abd Crabtree. I would have T.O. in the slot/limited downs. I recall Jerry Rice’s numbers in OAK, and Seatle. He was still a viable threat. T.O. is in even better shape

If it ain't broke don't fix it
Why add this type of uncertainty to a successful, focused, no nonsense unit that is just beginning to gel?
T.O.
Burned his bridge here long ago. He put down Jeff Garcia and blamed everything on him. Then went to the Eagles and when they lost the Super Bowl blamed everything on Donovan McNabb being a choke artist. I don’t mind bad-assed players and selfish players on the team — Randy Moss, if he could still catch balls in the middle of the field, or a mean streak OLman or P rusher. But someone who puts down his own QB — damn, can you imagine what he’d say when Smith throws a pass high over the middle nad T.O gets KOd? He’d just about kill him in the press and in the locker room.
I like the chemistry we currently have. Maybe we’re not a Super Bowl team yet. Not an elite team yet. Elite teams have HOF QBs — Packers, Saints, Pats, Steelers, and I think Cam Newton is the real deal — Panthers future could be bright as an up and coming team in a few years. But I do like our team’s overall chemistry this year.
Maybe CK is our QBOTF? I hope he gets a chance to play more this year. I was very impressed with Christian Ponder’s first start against the Packers. Great throws. Great leadership. Gutsy. Never gave up. There are a few other rookie QBs this year that look good in spurts, as rookies with good potential will. But at the moment this looks to have been a great QB draft: Newton, Dalton, Ponder, Locker, WOW! Maybe Kaepernick is part of this great class in the future? I hope so.
As far as T.O., it’s not worth the downside. And especially as far as 49er history is concerned. He was a jerk here. A total team wrecker. It’s beyond redemption.
PS
Maybe Scott Tolzien gets added to this year’s great draft class as well? I think we have two great rookie QBs sitting on the bench at the moment. Hopefully, their time will come. . .
backup
I truly believe that Tolzien will win the backup job over Kap next year!!

He looked great last year (before he tore his acl)

Sometimes you have to anticipate where something might go broke and not just wait for it to go broke and THEN do something. I think we saw the struggles against the lions in the passing game because of lack of depth at WR, fortunately the running game bailed out the passing game.
I say get him in for some private workouts let the coaches take a look at him, then if he looks good sign him and let him be that guy who comes in now and then and see if he can make some plays and earn a larger role in the offense.

TO Highlights
about 90% of the highlights came from the Browns, Buffalo and Miami.
Still, with Morgan on IR it would be nice to have him as a Veteran backup. If crabtree’s foot acts up, or if Edwards re-injures his knee, we could be in serious trouble.
No teams sent a rep to his workout.

T.O. looked like he didn’t have much left. We can sign guys who can barely play the game off the street for less money.
That's really sad if noone showed up
Especially knowing the man’s entire life revolves around football and what comes with it

T.O. i don't know ....
Terrell is gonna have to keep the drama in check if he wants to continue to even play in this league, and the niners have built great chemistry within the organization and unless he improves that ,i dont think he is gonna be a niner again .besides he needs to really change his attitude towards the game and players he is involved with..though call..GO NINERS!!!!!!
Funny how we have fans that say player X is not about team, player X burned this team years ago.
Frank Gore wanted an extension and it was trade him or cut him this is a business. It’s so easy for fans to hop the fence back and forth regardless of how contradicting they are to what they claim to call morale. TO was more productive than plenty of WR’s 10 years younger than he and he also did not play the whole season. Why not sign him? It’s not like we have a potent air attack in which he has balls to argue about. If he were to sign he would understand that his blocking is more important than his catching the ball. I’d put one incentive in his deal, no sideline antics, then I would make like Edggy and sign the man..!!
Leggoooo!!!
Typical Rosenhaus negotiating move. He does this with all of his players.

talk about
trying to milk every last single drop out of one’s career. obviously he hasn’t thought too much aboutlife post-football. if you’re a team cancer, you’re a cancer till the end. he hasn’t learning any skills in the ’ i play in a team’ department…..enough with T.O….
I'm impartial just because I love T.O.
I just don’t know what signing him would do to the chemistry this team currently has for one and other. They’re all acting like brothers and adding a guy like Owens could disrupt that chemistry. Love the guy though… love what he did for this team.
If we signed him, I would root for him of course but I’d be cautiously awaiting some kind of dysfunction.

T.O
Is one of the greatest receivers to ever play the game the fact that no teams showed up is so completely dumb. Some team will take a chance on him and he will be good and fresh and will produce, if no team takes him then these gm’s and scouts and what not are even dumber than I originally thought.

I am telling you he would still be an asset to whatever team picks him up, the guy is not washed up, he is one of those freak athletes that can play into his late 30's and maybe 40's

rec yards avg TD
2010 72 983 13.7 9
2009 55 829 15.1 5
he put up those numbers in 2010 with a struggling qb and only 14 games. Those are good numbers and he is anything but washed up. I think people just like they did with Alex are so biased they dont see an opportunity to make the team better when it is out there. He is much more mature and did not create any problems the last 2 seasons, and who wanted to see him go? I am sure Palmer wanted to keep him since he was the only guy palmer seemed to throw to last season

Did you actually watch any of those games?
The Bills got 55 catches from him on 109 targets and 32% of them were deep.
The Bengals got 72 catches out of him on 139 targets and 35% of them were deep.
He was on those teams exactly what you saw on the workout — a guy who is only good for running a deep go or post route — and he’s not even that good at those any more.
For every exciting deep score there were half a dozen or more 3 and outs where those low percentage throws were crippling those offenses. It’s no coincidence that the best game of Carson Palmer’s career came after TO and Ocho (at the same point in his career as TO) were riding the pine.
So no, I don’t want a guy on the field that is so limited in his game that to utilize his one remaining strength we have to stall out the offense on such a large number of drives.
This is why he’s unemployed, and this is why he’s likely to remain so.
No one is saying he is going to come in and be the #1 target, just to add some depth and experience. No one is saying he should come in and get every target. Having him on the roster will make us a better team. Plus the guy needs to play some football
or else he is going to kill himself.

Cold but...
Saving people from topping themselves is not the business of NFL football teams. NFL teams exist to get butts in seats, faces in front of screens, hopefully win more than they lose, and have a little cash left over to show for it at the end of the year. At this point in his career, T.O. can’t significantly help a team do any of those things.
Really he can't?
and you know this how? the point is to give him a shot and see what hes got left, if nothing which i highly doubt than we lose or gain nothing no big deal, but if he does bring something then that would make us even better. Can’t sit back and not try to make the team better if there is a chance

Also the last line was a joke, of course no one is going to sign just to keep him from commiting suicide.

You need
depth to be reliably healthy.
You need experience to be a selfless contributor to the betterment of the team, even if it means riding the pine and coaching.
If you think you can get either from the T.O. show I have a bridge across the desert I think you’d be interested in.
Bridge across the desert would be nice
sand keeps burning my feet
would be a true test of our coaching staff, and playing for a winning team usually gets people in line. I think he would ride the pine for some time if its for a winner but he would get his opportunities to play and earn more time or if he shows in practice he is better than everyone else he will start like harbaugh says.

Oh I understand you
I just think your desire to sign this man is based in nothing anywhere related to good football sense and comes soley from your irrational emotional attachment to this guy.
Our coaching staff does not have time for juvenile tests from a washed up diva that’s sown division and acted with a “me first” attitude everywhere he’s ever been.
We aren’t a team that throws deep 10-12 times a game and at this point in his career that’s the only thing he does well.
He’s a cancer. And his football skills are no longer worth putting up with it — as one year stints on basement dwelling teams have proved. He wasn’t even worth it for them.
One of the greatest receivers to play the game

Most of us said the same thing about Frank Gore until he turned it on against the Eagles. In watching TO last year, he’s still prob gonna be a better WR than what some teams currently have on their rosters right now.

And it's still the truth
He didn’t “turn it on” against the Eagles — our offensive line finally started making some wide open holes against a defense designed to get down on it’s knees and service the running game. Same for Detroit — another Wide 9 team.
Idk... I saw it as he was still getting his legs under him.
Even in that Eagles game, he still seemed a bit slower than years past. The two games after that, he looked like the old Frank Gore again fully.

The last three teams that TO played for were happy to see him leave.
Don’t you think that just maybe that’s a hint?
Don't think the Bengals were happy to seem him leave
I think he’d still be with them if he hadn’t been injured
T.O
We don’t need him…. Braylon is coming back and he and Smith look good together from I’ve have seen. Crabs is starting to come into his own and had a breakout game against the Lions. Ginn and Williams are more than capable of handling the 3rd and 4th position. Our locker room is awesome right now. Everyone is on the same page and chemistry couldn’t be better. Signing a banged up troublesome vet who’s contract is guaranteed for the whole yr regardless, sounds like bad business and not Baalke’s style. He’s too smart for that. T.O may be physically tough but I think mentally he hangs out to much with Mr. Freddy P Soft.
this subject has been beaten to death

we never had 3 down
3 Starting WR’s are injured. crabtree is limited in practice, Morgsn on IR, and Edwards returing from surgery. Ginn has issues at WR. Kyle is not able to do it by himself
Crabtree, Edwards, Davis, Walker, Ginn, Williams, and maybe the Swain guy will all be viable enough targets the rest of the year barring anymore injury

and my other point was 3 viable wr's IMO isnt enough specially with one of them being untested, yes williams has showed signs but he still very green.

Williams will be fine in a game. There's nothing green about his game.
He will shine when he gets his shot. Ginn has been doing much better at catching the ball… Walker and Davis are real threats outside of Crabtree and Edwards. Relax, it’ll be fine.

Crabtree edwards and williams. Ginn sucks I want someone who can actually catch the ball out there, and davis and walker are TE. yes they can line up at
WR but I would rather have them at TE. I dont see why you dont grab him and see what hes got, the least it would do is make us better, the worst is poor TO gets signed then cut.
