49ers-Browns Game To Feature Ian Eagle, Dan Fouts
The 49ers host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday and due to the inter-conference nature of the game (NFC team hosting), the game will air on CBS. For this week's game, the 49ers get the number three CBS crew of Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts. I believe the top two crews are Jim Nantz/Phil Simms and Greg Gumbel/Dan Dierdorf.
Any thoughts on that crew? I was not a fan of Dan Fouts during his Monday Night Football days but I've started to come around a little bit in recent years. I think part of the reason involved moving past this brutal Miller Lite commercial. Fouts did finish with much better career numbers, but Stabler put up some respectable numbers AND won a Super Bowl. Fouts might win the better QB argument, but the Snake wins the ring argument.
This will end up as the 49ers only CBS game this season. The 49ers other AFC home game is against the Steelers and is scheduled for Monday Night Football on December 19. Other than that it is eight games on FOX, with a Thursday NFL Network game on Thanksgiving. For those wondering, the Super Bowl is on NBC this year.

I always have the TV muted.
So it doesn’t really matter.
Any NFL team that doesn't fear the Niners really don't know the deal.
And when's the last time a 3-4 had two inside guys who played all three downs?
My $0.02
I don’t normally enjoy beer ads, but when I do, I prefer Billy Dee Williams.
Also, Kenny Stabler would knock Dan Fouts out.

Mmm, Snake was a fantastic QB,
but he’s about half Fouts’s size,
waterboy
Is fouts the commentator along with musberger?

Game time...
Fouts: “You know Ian, the winner of this game will come down to whoever has the most points at the end of the game.”
Eagle: “Just kill me now Dan!”
Don't even go there.
The guy is a total hack. He thought we should put Carr in for Smith. He probably still thinks that. The guy’s an idiot.

And?
Lots of fans are hacks too. I wonder what percent of Candlestick was already turning on Gore after his slow start this season. And this is Gore we’re talking about!
Thank god football decisions aren’t made by democratic majority.

I lol'd
Commercial was pretty funny. Best one ever was where they had Vinatieri walk through the metal detector 4 times in a row with Jim Kelly right behind him. Hahahaha.
Wish I could find it on youtube.

A fan of Ian Eagle
Very professional & knowledgeable. Not borring either!!
Niners,Nets,Reds & USC!!!
The Most Interesting Man In The World---->Mikhail Prokhorov!!!
I like CBS better than FOX personally.
So this will be a welcome change for me.
I just hope we don’t have to listen to Jim Mora again this year (or ever). I think he’s terrible.
Billick's worse

Joe (freak'en) Thomas!
The Browns 6-6 / 315 lb All World Left Tackle.
Be very interesting to see if any 9er can beat this animal.
Aldon Smith...
will draw him this week in nickel situations.
by David Fucillo on Oct 25, 2011 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions
So we discover just how good Aldon really is....
Browns Thomas is as a good of a left tackle as there is in the entire NFL.
Very, very good test for Aldon, or for any 9er for that matter.
Thomas is as good as there is...
But he’s still giving up 3" of reach… Aldon will still beat him a few times, that slap move is just plain beastly…
That will be very interesting.

Justin Smith is no slouch
and has a freaking tank engine as a motor.

#3 crew for CBS is appropriate
Since this game will be competing with the #1 game for CBS (and of the NFL Sunday): Pats @ Steelers. The #2 crew will then do the first game of the doubleheader at 10:00.
One good thing about the Niners hosting an AFC team is having the game on CBS. They’ve got better announcers and their signal is not as delayed behind the radio broadcast as Fox’s.
- Thank you SF Giants for an incredible 2010 season and painting the City orange & black!
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
season ticket holder here
so i don’t care who is broadcasting

Not a season ticket holder
but I’ll be at the game as well. This should be the most energetic crowd Candlestick has seen in years.

The Crew makes no difference to me , as I'm always a few ticks ahead of the commentary ... !!
I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's just my game ...Jimmy Raye your no daisy ...!!
If we traded our Joe (Staley) for their Joe (Thomas)...
we would have to throw in a #1 and #2 draft pick too.
That is how superior Thomas is over Staley.
Not really sure how that's relevant
since the only way that the Browns trade him is if Holmgren gets syphilis and goes nuts
Currently satiating my hunger for Kings basketball with a renewed focus on the NINERS
Pointing out just how GOOD Joe Thomas is...
and how interesting it will be to discover who on the 9ers has any chance at all of beating and/or making a play on this guy.
Whatever

Not true....
if you were paying attention at all….I was describing me as if I was Godzilla.
he's right
You were the guy that was saying how dominant Detroit’s D-line was and you were ready to forfeit the game. I havent been on here long but maybe a trend is beginning??

Ummm.... your are not being "truthful" are you
Pull up the post where I said anthing or implied anything close to forfeiting the game.
Man, some people will go to any extreme to make their point appear better…lol
one of the worst
Dierdorf is one of the worst announcers ever. How can he be part of a number 2 team for any network. The only one who might have been worse was Dennis Miller. Miller isn’t even a good comedian let alone a sports announcer. Personally I like Dan Fout’s but that may be partly because I’m old enough to remember his dad Bob who was excellent.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?
I dont get to see Cletus the robot this weekend?
I take it you don't have the DOV Secret Decoder Ring
You need to drink more ovaltine
-Quad Fin Rider
hate that robot
so obnoxious.
Win or lose, at the end of the day I'm just happy to see the Niners play well... Okay, winning is good. I prefer winning.
"Yeah, I do get emotional. It fires me up. It fires me up a lot. I'm not going to apologize for that. If that offends you or anybody else, then so be it."
Dan Fouts
I personally like Dan Fouts.
He’s not that bad of an announcer.
He certainly has the heritage, with his father, Ken Fouts, the long time radio voice of the Niners, and a Hall of Fame announcer.
ANYONE KNOW
If this will be a nationally televised game? I’m in TeXas and would LOVE to be able to wath the game at home!
We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.
